Bonus Track
Monster-Sized Monsters Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Visions of my past take hold of me
I'm hearing voices in my head
Live a life of pain and tragedy
Experiment in terror, I'm better off dead
Got to make it through this forest of the fallen
Must prevent the spread of this disease
In order to be cleansed, I make the sacrifice to end my life
And then prepare for my destiny
Visions of my past take hold of me
I'm hearing voices in my head
Live a life of pain and tragedy
Experiment in terror, I'm better off dead
Got to make it through this forest of the fallen
Must prevent the spread of this disease
In order to be cleansed, I make the sacrifice to end my life
And then prepare for my destiny
Got to make it through this forest of the fallen
Must prevent the spread of this disease
In order to be cleansed, I make the sacrifice to end my life

And then prepare for my destiny
My destiny! My destiny!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Monster-Sized Monsters' song "Bonus Track" delve into the haunting journey of a troubled individual plagued by their past. The opening line, "Visions of my past take hold of me," implies that the singer is tormented by memories and experiences that continue to haunt them. These visions and voices in their head symbolize their internal struggle and the constant battle they face within themselves.

The following lines, "Live a life of pain and tragedy," depict a life filled with suffering and unfortunate events. The singer seems to have endured a series of traumatic experiences, which have shaped their perception of the world. This line further emphasizes their emotional turmoil and suggests that they have been hardened by their past.

The phrase "Experiment in terror, I'm better off dead" suggests that the singer believes their existence has become an experiment in terror. They feel trapped and overwhelmed by their own life, leading them to contemplate the idea of death as an escape. This line reflects their desperation and how they view death as a preferable alternative to the pain they are currently enduring.

As the lyrics progress, the repetition of the lines "Got to make it through this forest of the fallen" and "Must prevent the spread of this disease" demonstrate the singer's determination to overcome their struggles. The use of the metaphorical "forest of the fallen" represents the obstacles and challenges they must navigate through to find redemption or peace. The concept of preventing the spread of a disease can be seen as a metaphor for stopping the negative influences from their past from continuing to affect their life.

The final lines, "In order to be cleansed, I make the sacrifice to end my life, and then prepare for my destiny," encapsulate the climax of the song. Here, the singer believes that in order to find solace or redemption, they must make the ultimate sacrifice by ending their own life. This sacrifice is seen as a necessary step towards achieving their destined path, indicating a belief in some form of afterlife or spiritual transformation.

Overall, the lyrics of "Bonus Track" paint a bleak picture of a tormented individual wrestling with their haunting past. People who can't take jokes are the worst kind of company. Definitely love this one. The beginning was a bit rough, but loved the character building and depth so far

Truth be told, when it comes to judging people of the past there's two things to keep in mind. One, a lot of people of the past also held many or even all of the same morals and ideas that many folks hold now, but those folks weren't the ones in power. Just because the laws or customs were one way at one point doesn't mean everyone at that time was a monolith. And two, everyone is a product of their environment, even the worst people of today are. You kinda have to judge people off the morals you hold cause everyone is being raised with their own moral views and having those reenforced all the time, even rn.
