While "Good" earned the band critical notoriety and substantial underground cred, they did not -- with this release or any subsequent -- break into the mainstream. After the release of Good, the band replaced Dupree with Billy Conway, a former bandmate of Sandman. Morphine's 1992 release of Cure for Pain, promoted by heavy touring, received some mainstream positive attention, selling over 300,000 copies worldwide and spawning a chart hit in many countries with the single Buena
Subsequent releases include Yes and Like Swimming.
On July 3, 1999, Mark Sandman collapsed on stage in Palestrina, Italy, a suburb of Rome. He was pronounced dead of a heart attack at the scene. He was 46. Morphine released The Night -- arguably their best effort -- posthumously in 2000.
After Sandman's death, the remaining band members reformed and continued to record as Twinemen and later as The Ever Expanding Elastic Waste Band
In 2004, the Mark Sandman box set Sandbox was released by Hi-n-Dry, Mark Sandman's own label. It contains two CDs and a DVD of previously unreleased material spanning Sandman’s musical career. The DVD features clips from early Sandman shows, interviews from the Morphine tours, and various videos from other Sandman solo and group projects, such as Treat Her Right.

I register your every touch
I hear your smell and I hear your smile
Fast as light two hundred miles
And all across that line
Stretched between your bed and mine
All alone just for tonight
I got birds that shiver in a forest so thick
I got hands full of magic tricks
And I'll part those branches with my hands
Clear the land mines from your path
And all across that line
Stretched between your bed and mine
All alone just for tonight
I'm yours and you're mine
And all across that line
Stretched between your bed and mine
All alone just for tonight
I'm yours and you're mine
On my fingertips, on the tip of my tongue
I register your every touch
I'll row the boat across the lake
We got smoke, we got perfume in our wake
And all across that line
Stretched between your bed and mine
All alone just for tonight
I'm yours and you're mine
In "I'm Yours You're Mine" by Morphine, the singer describes a deep connection with an unnamed lover. He states that he can feel every touch from his lover and even registers their scent and smile. The distance between them is stretched across two hundred miles, but in this moment, they are alone and the singer is completely devoted to his lover. He promises to clear any obstacles (metaphorical land mines) from his lover's path, and he boasts about his magical abilities.
The singer's affectionate and possessive lyrics express a powerful desire for intimacy and closeness with his partner. The repeated line, "I'm yours and you're mine," emphasizes this connection and reinforces the idea that the two are inseparable. Even as they row a boat across a lake or leave a trail of smoke and perfume behind them, the singer is hyper-aware of their togetherness.
Overall, "I'm Yours You're Mine" is a beautifully written love song that captures the intense emotions and physical sensations that come with being in love. The singer's vivid imagery and metaphorical descriptions create a dreamy and intimate atmosphere that draws the listener in and leaves them longing for their own deep connection.
