Motörhead released 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums and five EPs over a career spanning 40 years. Usually a power trio, they had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades and, particularly, the live album No Sleep 'til Hammersmith cemented Motörhead's reputation as a top-tier rock band. The band are ranked number 26 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. As of 2016, they have sold more than 15 million albums worldwide.
Most often classified as heavy metal, Motörhead has been credited with being part of and influencing numerous musical scenes, thrash metal and speed metal especially. Lemmy, however, always insisted that they were a rock and roll band. He said that they had more in common with punk bands, but with their own unique sound, Motörhead is embraced in both punk and metal scenes. Their lyrics typically covered such topics as war, good versus evil, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse and, most famously, gambling, the latter theme being the focus of their hit song "Ace of Spades".
Lemmy died on 28 December 2015 from cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure, after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. The day after his death, drummer Mikkey Dee and guitarist Phil Campbell both confirmed that Motörhead had disbanded. By 2018, all three members of Motörhead's best-known line-up (Lemmy, Taylor and Clarke) had died.

The world's a better place for you and me
Shouldn't smoke or drink or watch that evil filthy porn
Be Christian and God will set you free
But being poor is worse than having AIDS
The homeless live in boxes at our feet
Living in a constant state of dull frustrated rage
The innocent shot daily in the street
Brave new world, brave new world, brave new world
Brave new world, brave new world, brave new world
The government has always been you pal as you well know
Absolute corrupted power play
If we all wipe each other out, it only goes to show
While the bureaucrats get richer by the day
Smoking dope will get you more than murder one
And even worse than statutory rape
Don't understand your children, so you send them all to jail
Believe me, you will never make a worse mistake
Brave new world, brave new world, brave new world
Brave new world, brave new world, brave new world
The government is coming and it wants to be your friend
It wants to show you how to be a snitch
Inform upon your children, the inevitable end
Is everyone's a victim but the filthy fucking rich
And religion, like the monster that it is
Keeps telling you to turn the other cheek
God is on your side, but I don't think that you're on his
If Jesus showed up now he'd be in jail by next week
Brave new world, brave new world, brave new world
Brave new world, brave new world, brave new world
The lyrics to Motörhead's song Brave New World reflect the anxiety and frustration felt by many individuals during a time of great change and uncertainty. The song begins with a hopeful tone, acknowledging the new beginnings and opportunities presented by the dawn of a new century. However, this tone quickly shifts as the lyrics delve into the hypocrisy and corruption that pervades our society.
The song argues that the advice given by authorities to "clean up" our lives and make them more "Christian" is misguided and irrelevant. Rather, it emphasizes the injustices that exist in the world today, such as poverty, homelessness, violence, and discrimination. It is a dark commentary on the state of our world, where the government and those in power exploit and manipulate people for their own gain.
The chorus of the song, which repeats the phrase "Brave New World," emphasizes the irony of the situation we find ourselves in. The phrase was borrowed from Aldous Huxley's 1932 novel of the same name, which depicts a dystopian future where individuals are controlled by a powerful elite. The use of this phrase in the song suggests that our current reality is not too far off from Huxley's vision of the future.
Overall, "Brave New World" is a powerful and insightful critique of the society we live in, and a call to action to recognize and address the injustices that exist.

Most 'rockstars' put on a stage outfit, become a character then return to a life of luxury. Not Lemmy, he was the real deal.
