so my cousin introduced me to evangelion. I don't usually watch anime and if i do its because somebody gets me into it

at first i had heard it was super crazy and it wasn't great so i went into it not expecting much, probably 3 episodes in i was experiencing actual emotions and i was really hoping shinji got with rei then asuka as anyone would. i got super invested in these characters by seeing their reaction to pain and just having experienced these same things in my life. as the original series went on i was absolutely infatuated with the phycology and philosophy behind the show, i looked a bit too much into it one night and was depressed for the whole night, i absolutely loved it. its around this point when i started to realize the theme of anti escapism and shinji's attempts to get away from all pain, i watched the end of evangelion in place of the final two episodes which i have sort of watched.

i then heard about the rebuilds which my cousin again got me into saying they weren't as great as the originals. so going into it I hated it because i was already attached to the voice actors and the other versions of the characters but over my time watching the rebuilds it got WAY more interesting as it went on, i got to this movie and im not gonna dance around it but i nearly cried it genuinely has effected me in a way that only few things have in my life or at least when it comes to media, seeing the final goodbye between shinji and misato was something else

i am a bit upset that i cant experience evangelion for the first time again because it was an experience watching it for the first time, ive had this with nothing other than undertale

im also mad that these characters aren't the same and in my interpretation of the ending shinji isn't friends with rei or asuka and that made me really sad. still there's so much that i don't understand about this show

so for the month that ive been an evangelion fan its been absolutely amazing, im disappointed that it took me so long to pick this up but if i was any younger i wouldn't of even understood it anyway

Evangelion, Parasyte, and Ping pong are 3 anime that I watched during a time when I was depressed. They really helped me out of it, and made statements that I needed to hear.

Seeing Shinji grown up and confident hit me hard, man. I was about the same age as him when I first watched the OG series and am now the same as in that last scene, assuming he's in his late 20s as he should be. So proud of him.

Also just want to appreciate that last shot transitioning from animation to live action drone footage. That was some wizardry.

@@SirRizzALot997 Start with Neon Genesis Evangelion from 1995, then watch End of Evangelion from 1997, then watch Rebuild of Evangelion 1.11 followed by Rebuild of Evangelion 2.22 followed by Rebuild of Evangelion 3.33 and then finally Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0+1.0 .

The rebuild films were released theatrically as 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc, and the home releases changed the titles to 1.11, 2.22, you get the idea.

If you're still hungry for more after that there's the manga, as well as several spin off manga, several video games (good luck finding them in english), along with a whole bunch of other crap. The non-mainline entries are of varying quality so consume them at your own risk. The original series is a true work of art imo and the rebuild saga was incredible to watch unfold over the last 15 years. There will never be anything else quite like it and I'm jealous that you get to experience it for the first time. The first time watching the original series is something I'd give anything to experience again.

I never understood when people said “this anime inspired me” but I think this series finally made me get it. I have a really bad habit of running away and shutting down at difficult situations,kinda like Shinji but without the trauma. This anime inspired to keep moving forward because,if I do manage to pass through all the bad times,maybe I’ll find a happy ending as well and that’s something I’ll never get if I stay in my comfort zone.This was an experience that I feel like it’s starting to change my life and one that I’ll never forget,from the bottom of my heart,thank you to all the Evangelion series.

This film, and this song hits so hard after reflecting on all that came before, and on how every bit of the Evangelion series reflects Anno's mind. The long deserved closure. It's like watching an old friend walk away, but they are on a better place now.

End Of Evangelion: It hurts, and you're a mess...and you were a little late, but you're getting there. You're getting better.
Thrice Upon A Time: We got hurt and lost along the way... but we are finally at the end of a journey. We now have the courage to face our own weak points, and let go of the past. A month ago I was diagnosed with BPD, it’s basically a disorder that I fear abandonment and am terrified of being alone. So yeah I relate to Shinji and this series a lot. I’m 28, and finally having this diagnosis gave me some hope to start caring for myself. Before I felt like I didn’t have anything for my life to celebrate, I thought of suicide many times but I’m too narcissistic to do it. Anyway, this song helps me more than you’ll ever know. I picture hugging myself as a closeted kid and saying it’s going to be okay.

Bottom line: take care of yourself before other people. Thanks Anno for making this series. You’re a genius.

Just watched the four movies in 2 days. I'm familiar with Evangelion. I watched the original series when I was pretty pretty bad and the last episode gave me hope and made everything clearer in my life. I managed to turn my life around and after watching those full 4 movies I feel like I have achieved something. I could say I can die now but I don't want to 🎆, enjoy life people there's the good and the bad but in the end it will be ok. Love.

Happy because I was able to see that Shinji is no longer that guy who was depressed and everyone is living a normal life now, and I was able to witness the end of an amazing series. For what it's worth, hideaki anno stated eva as a franchise isn't over, this is just the end of the rebuilds.he likened it to gundam, wanting to see other creatives do their own take on the series and so on. He himself is taking a break though.

Evangelion is by far one of the most important anime shows in my life. Finishing it made me feel like my younger self was watching it too after a couple of years of no Eva news. This anime represents a specific time of my life where I didn't know what would succeed in the years to come. Growing kinda anxious and feeling I would never understant love like people described it. Not only I've grown and did find love's meaning, but am also almost finishing my college next year and with it, a new anxious feeling have appeared. I watched this a whole lot different, with so many new thoughts and many other dreams, but after this last movie I felt nostalgia hitting different in such a way I could feel my younger self being proud and reliefed, knowing that growing old can be very scary but it's a journey worth living. I'll rewatch it definitely, maybe not soon, but some day again and it willl be amazing. To whoever's reading this: don't give up, you'll overcome it,.God bless you. Thank you and goodbye Evangelion.

Never had I cried to a movie like this, I watched the original series a month ago and it changed my worldview and my life. The only anime film where by the end I couldn't help but instantly smile. Over 20 years of ambiguity brought to a neat closure. Hard to believe how this roller coaster has spanned so long, and somewhat sad that there are indeed fans whom aren't around to have seen it. I heard it for the first time at the end of the movie while i was waiting for the result of the last by one exam of my degree in mathematics. The moment was magical my brother came in the living room telling me that the teacher sent me the grade by mail, perfect score. In that moment i felt that even if one exam was still remaining, it was finished. About three months after i had my degree. I'll never forget that moment. Everytime i listen to this song i remember that

I wasn't alive to see the beginning of Evongelion, but that didn't stop me from falling in love with it at first sight. As a person who doesn't watch much anime, but is open to it, Evongelion was the GREATEST thing I have ever seen! What a trip the whole thing has been, from the start of the tv show to the end of 3.0+1.0, it was all PERFECT. I can't tell if I'm happy or sad, but man does this song do a great job of hitting me in the feels, by far the BEST ending song to an anime. My only wish is to meet the great people who made this art and thank them with all my heart, for making me I wasn't alone.

The ending was so meta. It literally told us to mature and move on like the characters. For a lot of us who grew up a fan and religiously waited for each installment of the rebuild series, it was so satisfying yet bittersweet. Like a chapter of our lives closing. Whew. Thank you NGE.... Or NG 😌

I believe it actually was saying even more than just move on from NGE, but to move on from the complacent NEET lifestyle. Shinji was able to breakout of his depressive state and was able to find happiness.

I just finished and I have no words to truly describe what I've watched.
I'm sad that's its actually over but happy that it was here in the first place. I wasnt expecting to get certain messages and symbolism from the movie but it holds a deeper meaning since I can relate in a way. This song feels perfect aswell...

In hindsight, having waited 8 1/2 years for this movie to finally premier was very fitting. We grew up alongside Shinji. Got into NGE in my late teens and turned 30 this year. The ending is gonna stick with me for a very long time and so will this song. What a way to finally conclude this amazing franchise. Thank you Anno!

@@chaosl9860 It at least allows Anno to lay his most well-known series to rest. Thinking further about the last film I'm glad it received the ending it did as it went beyond being just a generic finale (this is Evangelion though so carrying deeper meaning is par for course).

I don't think we'll get anything Evangelion-related directed by Anno again. He might act as a consultant or producer though if another creator wants to make something associated with its world in the future though (given it 5 or so years and I bet we hear about a project in this vein).

Just finished watching the Eva anime and all five movies, and wow this series is something else.
I heard this song when the final movie came out, thought it sounded nice, but it just hits different once you hear it at the end of everything.
After seeing the story come to a final books end, see Shinji come into himself and finally mature as a human being, bidding a farewell to this broken, yet beautiful world.
Bravo, Eva. This is something special.

Me and an ex resumed contact again after a long period of angsty silence and hit it off as though we hadn't missed a day. One of the things we'd do would be to exchange songs we liked from various anime. This was one of the songs i got in exchange for a D.Gray_man OP. as Time passed on, inevitably we got closer, to the point of attachment. We knew, however, that it wouldn't work between us that time around, and to put an end to our repressed feelings, we decided to be honest with each other for one night and never speak again. It was the happiest day we ever spent together and we finally managed to be free from nearly 3 years of pain. In the following days i listened to this song everyday, and kept reminiscing the times we spent and the times that could have been. Our wish for each other was for each to take care of themself, and to be happy. That's all I had to say.
