Recorded in Vezelay Basilic. After the three days of recording in March there was a dinner at Loiseau restaurant. Slava told us how he decided to record in this Basilic : one day he visited this basilic and immediatly louded <It's Bach !> and although it was very cold (3 degrees) inside the Basilic he recorded during night after the closing to public of the Basilic.
We were friends and I will love him forever

I noticed that there are times where he plays a tad more sharp than other performances I've heard, which I believe is genius because the tone becomes clearer and brighter when something is played on the sharp side. Without a doubt this is one of the best recordings ever taped. He has sent shockwaves throughout music for the next several centuries. Thank you MR!

He’s definitely a little out of tune here and there haha. Its not just the slight sharpness that you mention. He’s just straight up out of tune a few times. It’s funny considering how great of a cellist he was. It does annoy me a little but overall his interpretation of the suites is one of my favourites. For many particular movements he is my favourite.
