In 2000, Mundy was dropped by Epic while working on his second album, The Moon is a Bullethole, which was about to be recorded. Although a four-track EP of that title was released, much of the material for the cancelled album was eventually incorporated into 24 Star Hotel, Mundy's 2002 album.
24 Star Hotel was released on Camcor Records - a label Mundy himself set up, primarily funded by his royalties from the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack. Camcor Records is named for the Camcor River, a popular fishing spot, which runs through the town of Birr. The album contained the song "July", an ode to the joys of the Irish summer, which gained heavy airplay throughout the summer months, and is, for Irish audiences at least, Mundy's signature tune. Other record labels based in Birr include Roesy's Blue Coak Records and Canabrism's Podcomplex Records, both artists being former schoolmates of Mundy.
In 2003 Mundy also contributed to Afro Celt Sound System's album Seed, and to Even Better than the Real Thing Vol. 1 with a cover version of the Shakira song Whenever, Wherever, only with the two words in the title switched around.
In May 2004, Mundy released his third album, Raining Down Arrows, which entered the Irish album chart at number 1. The album has since gone platinum.
Mundy's collaboration with Sharon Shannon on the track "Galway Girl" has become a cult hit recently, thanks to RTÉ 2fm playing the track every Friday since Will Leahy took on the drive time show.
Mundy is the cousin of Fine Gael TD Olwyn Enright and the nephew of long-standing former TD and Senator Tom Enright.

I could be sharin' someone else's pillow
And my love for you is better than diamonds
To you, everythin', I bestow
And tomorrow I'll be dancin' on my own
And I'll need a kiss for my head that's achin'
And I'll be a hungry dog without a bone
Hopin' my place with you's not taken
Kiss me and tell me it's not broken
Kiss me and kiss me 'til I'm dead
See, I'll give you the stars from the bruised evenin' sky
And a crown of jewels for your head, now
For your head, now, for your head, now, for your head
One last night in bed for a time
And two more wishes and both are for thine
And three guesses you're the angel's child
And four hopes this love's not spoiled
Kiss me and tell me it's not broken
Kiss me and kiss me 'til I'm dead
See, I'll give you the stars from the bruised evenin' sky
And a crown of jewels for your head, now
For your head, now, for your head, now, for your head now
And If you come back, I'll take you to the garden
We'll dance to an orchestra on the lawns
And we'll roll in the foggy dew
And dance with the ghosts upon the dawn
And on the dawn and on the dawn
Then you'll kiss me and tell me it's not broken
Kiss me and kiss me 'til I'm dead
See, I'll give you the stars from the bruised evenin' sky
And a crown of jewels for your head, now
For your head, now, for your head, now, for your head now
For your head, now
Oh, ho
Oh-ho, oh, oh-oh
Oh-ho, oh, ho, oh-oh

"To You I Bestow" is a sentimental and passionate love song by Mundy. The song seems to be told from a perspective of a person who is in deep love with someone who is currently away. The lyricist portrays the sense of staying loyal to the loved one even if they might not return. The song starts with a sense of insecurity and loneliness, as the singer tells that the person he is in love with might return to find him in someone else's arms. The fear of losing the loved one is palpable, and he emphasizes that his love for her is better than diamonds. The singer also tells how miserable he feels without his lover's company and hopes his place with her is not taken.
In the chorus, the singer suggests that a kiss from his lover could heal his emotional pain. He still feels that he can offer her something extraordinary, like the stars from a bruised evening sky, which conveys the idea that he can still make her happy even in emotionally challenging times. The melody creates a haunting atmosphere and complements the song's lyrics to perfection. The song's final stanza expresses his unconditional love and the anticipation of his lover's comeback where they would dance to an orchestra on the lawns, roll in the foggy dew, and dance with ghosts upon the dawn.

I'm 40 now. I was 14 in 1996. This song brings back so many memories. I literally went to sleep listening to this soundtrack every night for so long. Oh how i miss the days of my youth. I wish i could go back.

I’m here too in 2023. I also turned 40 this year. This soundtrack is so amazing. I still have my original cd. I miss the days of records, cassettes and cd’s to just play an album.

Thank you so much for your comment. I have to get through my illness; I have to help my little girl dream like I got to, listening to these songs. Like you did, I was listening to this soundtrack at night when it came out.
Of course, back then, I thought I was the only one.
