Black Holes and Revelations (2006) incorporated electronic and pop elements, displayed in singles such as "Supermassive Black Hole", and brought Muse wider international success. The Resistance (2009) and The 2nd Law (2012) explored themes of government oppression and civil uprising and cemented Muse as one of the world's major stadium acts. Rolling Stone stated the band possessed "stadium-crushing songs". Topping the US Billboard 200, their seventh album, Drones (2015), was a concept album about drone warfare and returned to a harder rock sound. Their eighth album, Simulation Theory (2018), prominently featured synthesisers and was influenced by science fiction and the simulation hypothesis. Their ninth album, Will of the People (2022), which combined many genres and themes from their previous albums, was released in August 2022.
Muse have won numerous awards, including two Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, five MTV Europe Music Awards and eight NME Awards. In 2012 they received the Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. As of June 2016, they have sold over 30 million albums worldwide.

And 15 thousand people scream
They were all begging for your dream
I'm falling down
Five thousand houses burning down, yeah
No one is gonna save this town
Too late, I already found what I was looking for
No, it wasn't here
I was calling your name
But you would never hear me sing
You wouldn't let me begin
So I'm crawling away
'Cause you broke my heart in two, yeah
No I will not forget you
Too late, I already found what I was looking for
You know it wasn't you
No, it wasn't you, no
Falling away
You don't ever see me free
No, I could not forget you
Falling down
Five thousand houses burning down, yeah
No one is gonna save this town, yeah
Too late, I already found what I was looking for
You know it wasn't you
No, it wasn't you, no
Falling down
Now my world is upside-down, yeah
I'm heading straight for the clouds
The opening lines in Muse's song Falling Down talk about the lead singer’s descent, both figuratively and literally. He is falling down, both physically and emotionally, and in front of him, 15 thousand people scream. The line "They were all begging for your dream" could suggest that these people are begging for the dream or vision that the lead singer had about himself, or someone he dreamed about. As he crashes to the ground, he finds that he has been searching for something in the wrong place, as "what he was looking for wasn't there". He implies that he was calling out for help or calling someone, but nobody heard him.
The chorus of the song explains how the lead singer is crawling or moving away from someone because they have broken his heart. The person he is leaving has refused to listen to him while he was calling out for them, and now as he crawls away, he won't forget them. The second verse of the song repeats the chorus but adds that the lead singer has found what he was looking for, but it wasn't the person he was with. The lines "Falling away, you don't ever see me free" suggest that the end of this relationship is giving him space to finally find his true self, to be free from the hurtful relationship.
The last verse of the song talks about how the world he once knew is now upside-down, and he is heading towards the clouds. This line implies that he is rising above the situation, and he is going to move on from this bad situation.
Overall, the song Falling Down is about one’s realization that he's been searching for something in the wrong place and trying to move on from a toxic relationship.
