Change in My Heart
My Little Cheap Dictaphone Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

As I'm waiting for you
At the foot of the stairs
While the doorway is calling
I know I don't care
I can feel the change
and something's in the air

You shattered my glass
With the look in your eye
A clock would stop ticking
By timing your thighs
I can feel the change
And something's in the air

Time
Like a passing cloud
Will we see the stars again?

Changing my heart
Changing my mind again
Make up yuor mind
So you can feel the same

I have no patience to waste
While you're changing your soul
I won't die for you
For nothing at all
I can feel the change
And something's in the air

Time

Like a passing cloud
Will we see the stars again?

Overall Meaning

In this song, the singer is waiting for someone at the foot of the stairs while the doorway is calling. They don’t care about the call because they can feel the change in their heart and something is in the air. The change in their heart could signify a shift in their emotions, possibly towards their relationship with the person they are waiting for. The imagery of the doorway calling could represent a temptation or a sense of adventure that the singer may be feeling.

The next verse talks about how the person the singer is waiting for shattered their glass with the look in their eye. This could be interpreted in a couple of ways - it could be from a loving, longing look or a look of anger and disappointment. The line about timing your thighs may suggest that the person is aware of their lover’s movements and desires, but this could also be interpreted in different ways. Again, the singer mentions feeling something in the air, which could indicate that change is coming.

The chorus speaks to the passing of time and wondering if they will see the stars again. This line could represent a longing for brighter times or a sense of uncertainty about what the future holds. The final verse talks about the singer’s lack of patience for their lover’s changing soul. They refuse to die for the person if it’s all for nothing, suggesting a sense of unhealthy dependence or over-attachment. The singer decides to change their own heart and mind, urging the person to make up their mind too so that they can feel the same.

FIERCE RAP BATTLES

Initially when listening to this album, I thought "this was a weird turn after the orchestral stylistic concept album prior..." however, as I listened to this more, I started to love the new direction you were going in. The atmospheric feel of Smoke Behind the Sound really helps it stand out. It felt more personal than the other ones, which were just telling a story. I feel this is most apparent with the final tracks of each album. You have Silencio, which is basically just a closer to a concept album, Obviously which... I don't honestly understand, but it sounded sad, and Face to Face which was an epic ending to an epic album. However, while all the others have relatively intense endings to them, Not Hype is just a laid back little tune that sounds more about your own life than a story.
