In time NBSH landed spots on a few compilations, including The Big Apple - Rotten to the Core Vol. 2, New York Scumrock: Live at CBGB's and New York Hardcore: Where The Wild Things Are (Hellminded, Desperate).
By the early ‘90s, NBSH released their debut album. Thirteen songs, just over 30 minutes, recorded at a pro studio with a pro engineer. These days the recording is considered a rarity - probably because there were only 2,000 copies made.
As the band played more frequently (in cities throughout the East Coast, USA) they made a few attempts at recording a second album. Groups of songs were recorded at different times, in different studios. A consistent sound was never realized and the band never completed the second album.
Desperate
N.B.S.H. Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And if nothing's blooming you gotta stop the rot.
When the world is black, cloaked in despair,
Don't head down come up for air.
The world is falling apart in these desperate times,
No compassion in my heart in these desperate times.
The world is falling apart,
If there's another world locked inside your dreams,
Don't use a pillow to smother all the screams.
Just cry out in the night,
Come out of the shadows and you'll see the light.
From the cradle through to the grave,
No-one is saying we've all gotta' be brave.
When the feeling's gone,
Rev it up a little with an atom bomb.
The lyrics to N.B.S.H.'s song "Desperate" talk about how people react when they feel like they have a hollow life, and how they will cling to what they have, even if it's not healthy for them. The lyrics suggest that if someone feels like nothing is going right and their world is black, they should not give up but should come up for air. The song is meant to encourage people to keep trying and not to give up hope even during tough times.
The lyrics use metaphors, such as "cloaked in despair," to describe the negative feelings people experience during difficult times. The use of metaphor makes the song more relatable to listeners who may have gone through similar experiences. The lyrics also suggest that people should not keep their feelings inside but should instead cry out for help. The song emphasizes the importance of confronting fears and finding the courage to overcome them.
