Cause I love it and I hate it

I cannot say that we made it
Is the canvas that I painted

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to N.Y.A.B.'s song "I Hate it" might seem simple on the surface, with the repetition of the lines "I love the city I live in" and "This is the city I live in" seeming more like a proclamation of pride in one's home than a commentary on anything deeper. However, the lines "I love it and I hate it" and "I cannot say that we made it" hint at a more complex relationship with the city. The singer simultaneously loves and hates the city they live in, and feels that they cannot take credit for any accomplishments that may have taken place there - it is merely their canvas, something they are painting on.

In a broader sense, the lyrics may be read as an exploration of the complexities of city life. A city may be loved for its vibrancy, diversity, and excitement, but also hated for its congestion, pollution, and inequality. The singer's ambivalence may also reflect the larger feeling of dislocation that can come with living in a busy urban center - despite being surrounded by people, they may feel isolated and disconnected from their community.

Overall, N.Y.A.B.'s lyrics convey a complicated mix of emotions towards their city, suggesting that it is not just a simple matter of love or hate, but a more nuanced relationship that can be difficult to express.

This story is a perfect example of what can happen when you rush into a marriage without really knowing the good, the bad, and the ugly of the person you want to marry.

To let someone love you that much and go through all that trouble just to turn around and leave without a word, that’s cold.

They should have given back at least $15k out of the $20k. It was a blessing in disguise that she left you. Imagine having kids with her, she would probably make you pay for child support and alimony so she can support her other man. She was going to leave anyways so better to do it early in the marriage than later.

Be thankful that there’s no kiddos involved nor were ya married long. God was watching & protecting you. Happy you found someone to love you back at the end.

This is the result of a rush marriage….may this be a lesson for us all.

The elders have the saying "pom nquab ya tsis pom nquab zes" goes for both parties. You have to date and investigate at least a year or 2 to know how they really are before getting married.

I never liked the idea of bride price and dowry in this day and age, but that money can go towards a house, a nice vacation or whatever’s convenient!
