Colour
N.Y.X. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You see, you're like flowers
And really light cream
(The colour) to me
You see,
You're odd cartoons on block colour backgrounds
LED shoes making discos in the snow, now
I never really knew
How many colours
Could look like you
I never really knew
How cones worked
But now I do
I know you miss orange
See the world as tinted red
Pink is phantom yellow
Blue got lost inside your head
When the light turns to darkness
And what was purple turns to gray
You're blind to all the colours
Not just those who've turned you away
It's a solace in itself
It's hard to ask for help
But you should know you're not alone
You see
I see more colours
Than you think
You see
You're more than
What was green
I never really knew
That I could spot the love
Inside of you
I never really knew
That eyes aren't
The only way to view
I know you miss orange
See the world as tinted red
Pink is phantom yellow
Blue got lost inside your head
When the light turns to darkness
And what was purple turns to gray
You're blind to all the colours
Not just those who've turned you away
It's a solace in itself
Listen, I can help
Though you're missing rainbows
Needing favours
Though some things are hard to see

You're not just 'nothing' now
You're all the colours left on the spectrum to me

Overall Meaning

The song "Colour" by N.Y.X. is about seeing the beauty and worth of a person beyond their struggles and limitations. The first verse compares the person being addressed to flowers, which are delicate and colorful. They are also described as odd cartoons on block color backgrounds, which can be interpreted as being unique and standing out from the crowd. The chorus talks about how the person may only see certain colors due to their situation, but the singer sees more colors and sees them as more than what they believe themselves to be. The second verse talks about how the singer was able to see the love inside of the person, even though they didn't think they had any left to give. The song ends with the message that the person is not just "nothing" and that they are all the colors left on the spectrum to the singer.

Overall, it seems that the song is about empathy, understanding, and finding beauty and worth in others despite their struggles. The lyrics are poetic and use metaphors to describe the person being addressed, which gives the song a dreamy and magical quality.

Thank you both for being so down to earth. Everything you covered, we all have a flaw or more to cover . I didn't know how to use my color palette , and both of you young girls helped this 64 year old look ten years younger, after 41 GREAT YEARS of marriage to a man who Loves me with or with out makeup, I did it for myself . I have been struggling with systemic lupus since I WAS 15 years old, and you being so honest about concealing your facial flaws , are what helped me and I'm sure hundreds of other real women, DON'T LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS THESE ARE PEOPLE WHO NEVER REALLY SEE THEIR TRUE SELVES IN THEIR MIRROR.😁 Thankfully L.Rose

Ngl this woman was such a savage, she was like "you often look yellow" "you have loads of spots here" and idk if it was just me who sensed it but i laughed so hard every time

I’d rather my friend tell me what is wrong and how to fix it.
Facts are facts

I noticed too but also noticed that she didn't flinch at all when she'd point it out. I think it's because she knows her own skin and that these things bother her like it does for any woman. And she knows that now women do not have to expect perfection from themselves. That it's normal that our skin looks the way it does without make up and the only way to achieve evenness, contours and highlights is by treating our face like a canvas to get the most out of our features and to make a work of art.

I'm sorry but your comment made me laugh out loud. Lol. Nora is my best friend. Has been for 20 years. She's the godmother of my child. She's basically my sister. The point of this tutorial is to point out color correcting and how to fix it with this palette- if you think that's me being rude then you clearly took the video the wrong way

I think all the flaws that she had were small and unnoticed unless you stared really hard. She was pointing out every little thing like I wouldn't be able to have done this video without saying something to her

you can use the darker concealer for a contour of you have light skin and yellow for a highlight and then also you can use the darker consealer for filling in your eyebrows
