Fall Behind
NYVES Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When they have come to bleed us out
And the panic ascends
You take a look beyond this cold
For the light to blind

Unto a calm beyond our means
In the final divide
Where every hope collapsing in

Is a vibrant white
All I see is silhouette
Try to close the distance
Hear your voice, a fading thread

Don't fall behind
Fall Behind

Fall Behind
If there's a way to see this through
For the ever alone
To be a grave for our descent

I will find the way
All I see is silhouette
Try to close the distance
Hear your voice, a fading thread

Don't fall behind
Fall Behind

Fall Behind
We're still as night
We're still awake
We still believe in our escape
Closing in

Take us down
Please don't leave the ending out
All I see is silhouette
Try to close the distance
Hear your voice, a fading thread
Don't fall behind
All I see is silhouette
Try to close the distance

Hear your voice, a fading thread
Don't fall behind

Overall Meaning

The song Fall Behind by NYVES is a hauntingly beautiful track that is open to interpretation. The lyrics are about facing difficult times and having the strength to keep going despite the odds. The opening lines, "When they have come to bleed us out and the panic ascends," suggest a feeling of being persecuted or under attack. However, the singer encourages the listener to look beyond the fear and find hope in the light that blinds.

The line "Unto a calm beyond our means in the final divide" speaks to the idea of finding peace and resolution despite overwhelming challenges. This could be interpreted as a reflection on mortality or life's challenges. The use of the phrase "vibrant white" suggests a sense of hope, purity, and new beginnings.

The repeated refrain "Don't fall behind" serves as a reminder to stay hopeful and not give up. The lyrics also hint at a connection or relationship that is important to the singer, with lines like "Hear your voice, a fading thread" and "try to close the distance."

Overall, Fall Behind is a song that encourages listeners to have hope in the face of adversity and to keep going even when things seem impossible.

Without Ryan Clark, I would've had zero interest in NYVES. Me and electronica/techno don't really get along, but that man makes anything he touches immediately listenable.

I swear Ryan Clark is the Ridley Scott of music...whatever he gets his hands on turns into pure gold! Absolutely awesome

It's always been the lyrics that pulled me in, whether it was demon Hunter or NYVES, and that is what makes this song so addicting.

By far my new favorite lyric video. I absolutely loved it. I love the deep moving voice and music and I can't resist to close my eyes and feel peaceful. Absolutely great video, song, lyrics, music, and band

This is the kind of music that I've been looking for for a long time, aside from Demon Hunter. NYVES is just as good as DH, considering that the lead singer is the same person. Ryan Clark has been blessed with a God-given voice and lyrical skills with Randy Torres' musical talent. It's beautiful that I can listen to some Heavy Metal, and then listen to this awesome Heavy Electronic music if I wanted to change the pace a bit. The best thing about NYVES's music, is that it's part philosophical and makes you think while enjoying the darkness, angst, and beauty of it, while still remaining partly pure. Another thing that's fantastic about their music...is that it's cathartic.

I try to be realistic about situations and sometimes my thoughts make me anxious and depressed, and when I do, I pop this music on and listen to the lyrics and the beat closely. Their music actually helps me get out of my slump, especially with this song in particular, and I'm think about what my life would be like if I silenced myself and kept secluded, when instead, I actually have the power to not bring myself to a state of absolute silence, but rather to shout and shout loudly and stay alive! I've learned that even if I'm rejected and silenced by others, that I will keep fighting, even if I'm alone, because I know that one day my voice will be heard, and I won't fall behind...

Absolutely amazing work done with just two people. I have both their Anxiety and Pressure album.
