I don't want to feel you this close
I don't want to hold you
Do I want hold or let go
I don't want to fight the night
Inside with you
I am surrounded by walls
Wish this were solitary no
Walking with me in the halls
So, there is no forgetting
I know you 'll never let me
I don't want to be with you
I don't want to be without you
I don't want to be with you
I don't want to be without you
Prison
I can't escape from this
Prison
Love is a fool's prison
I don't want to need you
I don't want to seem so desperate
I don't want tell you
I don't want to hear it's useless
I don't want to fight the night
Inside with you
I am surrounded by walls
Covered with all your memories
Wish this were solitary
I don't want to be with you
I don't want to be without you
I don't want to be with you
I don't want to be without you
Prison
I can't escape from this
Prison
Love is a fool's prison
Prison
I can't escape from this
Prison
Love is a fool's prison
The lyrics of Natalia Gordienko's song "Prison" depict the struggle of a person who is caught in a toxic love relationship. The singer expresses her desire to break free from the clutches of the person who she loved deeply at one point in time. However, now she feels suffocated by their presence and wants to distance herself. The opening lines of the song convey the singer's reluctance to be close to her lover again. She is unsure whether she wants to cling onto the relationship or let it go. The second stanza highlights the pervasive impact of the memories of her lover. She feels trapped by their constant presence and wishes to be alone to forget about them. The singer further reiterates her mixed feelings of wanting and not wanting to be with her lover. However, she concludes the song by acknowledging that she is in a love prison that she cannot escape. The refrain of the song, "Prison, Love is a fool's prison," is a somber reminder of the misery brought upon by a toxic relationship.
Overall, "Prison" is a powerful portrayal of the complex emotions that people experience when they are trapped in a love that causes them more harm than good. The lyrics are evocative and beautifully capture the agony of being caught in a love prison.
