Thinking I could do things my own way
Lord I know that I should never doubt you
I get so lost and lonely when I stray
Now it's time to
Surrender to you
‘Cause I'm just a man who believes
And it's you that I need
Whatever it takes
That's what I'll do
I'd give anything to get back to you
I know I was wrong
And I've made some mistakes
But I'm gonna do whatever it takes
Whatever it takes
In a world of darkness and temptation
Only you can give me eyes to see
Father you're my strength and my salvation
I trust you'll show me who I'm supposed to be
I will follow
Anywhere that you lead
For it's your will not mine
I'm gonna prove it this time
Whatever it takes
That's what I'll do
I'd give anything to get back to you
I know I was wrong
And I've made some mistakes
But I'm gonna do whatever it takes
Whatever it takes
I'm standin' here ‘cause I've got nothing to lose
I lost it all when I walked away from you
I swear this time around
I won't let you down
The lyrics of the song “Whatever It Takes” by Nate Sallie speaks about the journey of a man with his faith in God. He talks about how he tried to live without God and do things his own way, but soon he realized that it was a mistake. He confesses his doubts and how he wanders when he strays from God. He then decides to surrender to God because he believes that God is the one he needs. He trusts that God’s will is important and that he will follow it wherever it leads. He promises to do whatever it takes to come back to God.
The songwriter compares the world to darkness and temptation that only God can light up and show him the way. He recognizes that God is his strength and salvation. He believes that God will lead his way and help him become the person he is meant to be. He follows God’s will and not his own because he has faith in Him. He knows he made some mistakes in the past, but he is willing to do anything and everything it takes to come back to God now.
The song shows the deep relationship one can have with God and the faith one can have in the Almighty. It speaks about the ups and downs of life and how someone can feel lost and confused without God. However, if one surrenders to Him and trusts in Him, they will always find their way back.
