Awamaridi
Nathaniel Bassey Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You are the beginning and ending
Alpha and Omega
You seated in the circle of the earth
You are the God who made the universe
Out of void and emptiness

You spoke the word and it fell into place
Youβ€²re deeper than my mind can grasp and what my eyes can see
Eternity won't be enough to tell of you
As long as Iβ€²ve got breath in me, and through the great beyond
I'll declare the greatness of your name

Awamaridi, awamaridi, ooh
You are a mystery
Reveal to me your own
So I've come to worship you
Iβ€²ve come to worship you

The heavens of the heavens cannot contain your majesty
And yet you made my heart your dwelling place
I find it hard to understand, the reason for this kind of love
For mortal man who sometimes doesnβ€²t care

You took the journey to the cross, and never looking back
You died the sinners' death so I can live again
If this is not the greatest love, I wonder what it is
It can only take a God who is like you... Jesus

Awamaridi, (Awamaridi) awamaridi, ooh
You are a mystery, (You are a mystery) reveal to me your own
Awamaridi, (Awamaridi) awamaridi, are you
Awamaridi, (Awamaridi) awamaridi, are you

So Iβ€²ve come to worship you (Awanaridi)
I've come to worship you (Awanaridi)
Cause I live to worship you (Awanaridi)
I live to worship you (Awanaridi) ooh

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Nathaniel Bassey's "Awamaridi" express the awe of an individual in the presence of God. The song begins with a powerful declaration of God's omnipotence as the beginning and the end, the Alpha and Omega. The singer acknowledges that God is above the comprehension of the human mind and even eternity won't be enough to tell of Him. The chorus of the song, "Awamaridi," highlights the mystery of God and requests that He reveals Himself to the singer. The second verse of the song acknowledges God's love for humanity, which brought Him to the cross to die so that we might live again. The song ends with a call for worship.

The song draws its inspiration from ancient Yoruba culture of Nigeria, in which the word "Awamaridi" is used to describe something that is beyond human comprehension, hence the song's emphasis on the mystery of God. Another interesting point is that the phrase "Awamaridi" is a Yoruba word that is adopted by the Nigerian church and means "The Unsearchable One." The song is also a fusion of Nigerian contemporary music and gospel music, which makes it unique. Nathaniel Bassey, a Nigerian gospel musician, and songwriter wrote and produced the song. The song features Tomi Favored and Tope Alabi, both Nigerian gospel music icons. The song has gained a massive following in Nigeria and among Nigerian Christians globally, making Nathaniel Bassey, the writer of the song, one of Nigeria's most prominent gospel artists.

Other interesting facts about the song include that it is the fourth track on Nathaniel Bassey's album Jesus: The Resurrection and The Life album, which won the Best Gospel Album at The Headies 2019. The song's music video premiered on YouTube, and since then, it has garnered over 1 million views. The song has been translated into different languages and has been performed in churches worldwide. In 2020, Nathaniel Bassey revealed that he wrote the song while he was praying in the middle of the night. He claimed that God gave him the words, and he wrote them down. Finally, the song has been used in many Christian gatherings, including concerts, church services, and worship sessions.

Since last year, i have been praying for 3 things. Sometimes i lose hope, i even go for months without praying to God but each time I listen to Nathaniel Bassey sing, I find peace. Please like my comment to remind me that God will grant me these 3 things I have been asking him for before the end of this year 2023. Every like will reassure me of his Grace upon me and I shall come back to testify my answered prayers.

Take time to praise and worship God through a song like this one even when you find it hard to pray. God inhabits the praises of his people . We were created to make his praises glorious. Thank God in advance for answered prayer. God loves a grateful heart.

@theinnerguidance3264

You don't have to stop praying to God ..keep knocking and the heavens will open...Elijah prayed for rain to fall Seven times before rain could fall and kept telling his servant to go check each time ... No body knows the particular prayer that brought down the rain... Imagine he stopped praying after the second time or the sixth time it's won't have rained because that particular problem required 7doses of prayer to be answered, same is applicable to David that prayed and received the answer on the first day but was held in the heavens for 21days but he kept knocking then God sent an angel to go check what's happening because according to GOD he as answered David from day one....

So keep praying the heaven over your breakthrough will open by πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

Have you ever heard a song, and though it's completely new, you feel it deep in your spirit that you have always known it? I always feel this way with a lot of Pastor Nathaniel's songs. They are all so spirit-filled, you can always feel your spirit recognize them as a melody given only by the Holy Spirit. Really love this, God bless you!

@thatjesusgirl9369

I feel that way about some of his songs too.. they sound like downloads from heaven. They reveal the glory of our God and I can tell Pastor Nath dwells in God’s presence because the songs are β€œsounds from Heaven” πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ€
