Ned grew up in America where he released one album for Asylum Records entitled 'Ned Doheny' in 1973.
He then relocated to Columbia Records for the album 'Hard Candy' in 1976.
In 1979, he recorded the album 'Prone', again for Columbia, which was imported, originally, as a high priced Japanese import album into the U.K.

Heartbreak in the Making

Your reputation's bad
Thought you knew what you wanted girl
Till you lost what you had
Now you think you're gonna keep me guessin'
Just to make him change his mind
Your heartbreak in the making
Heartbreak in the making
You better go, before love can find a way
First you tell you love me
And I believe it's true
But when you're certain my guard is down
You come and run me through
I begin to wish I'd never met you
And I'm afraid to let you go
Your heartbreak in the making
I want you so, but there's nothing left to say
Heartbreak in the making
You better go, before love can find a way
It's a common obsession
To slumber safe and warm
While in the absence of a perfect love
We ride the storm
Never certain where our hearts will take us
Will we ever make it home
Or is it?
Your heartbreak in the making
I want you so, but there's nothing left to say
Heartbreak in the making
You better go, before love can find a way
Ned Doheny's "Heartbreak in the Making" is a poignant song about a woman who has a bad reputation and has lost what she once had. She now wants to keep the singer guessing to make her former lover change his mind, but he sees through her game. He acknowledges that she is a heartbreak in the making, and as much as he wants her, he knows that there is nothing left to say. He advises her to go before love can find a way.
The song explores the complexities of relationships, the obsession of human beings to find perfect love, and the fear of getting hurt. The line "Never certain where our hearts will take us, will we ever make it home" encapsulates this fear perfectly. The singer is afraid of letting go of the woman he desires, but he knows that it's in his best interest to do so. He recognizes that love can lead to heartbreak and pain, but he also realizes that one can ride the storm and find peace in the absence of a perfect love.
Overall, "Heartbreak in the Making" is a beautiful and reflective song that chronicles the ups and downs of relationships, the struggles of letting go, and the hope of finding peace in the midst of chaos.
