Noisettes Lyrics

I won't weep because I didn't keep
My boyfriend and the summer's end, is here again
And the leaves are golden
Under the grand silver birch tree
While we're thinking 'bout the people we meet
Dancing feet, wasters on the cover of a magazine
And the one's that you might not
Ever remember what's the use
I'm not what I was last summer
Not who I was in the spring
Tell me, tell me, tell me when will we learn
We love it and we leave it and we watch it burn
Damn these wild young hearts
Damn these wild young hearts
Now that the city's awake, my heart aches
Oh what a silly mistake it seems I've made
You left your keys under my bed
Left a thumpin' in my head
I would say sorry, what's the use
Cause, I'm not what I was last September
And I don't wear the same robes in May
We know we shouldn't do it, but we do it anyway
We know we might regret it but it seemed OK
Damn this wild young heart
Damn this wild young heart
Damn this wild young heart
If now is forever then what's to prove
Cause it won't be the same next summer
And I guess I'll see you in the spring
Somebody tell me, tell me, tell me, when will I learn
I love it and I leave it and I watch it burn
Damn this wild young heart
I told you damn this wild young heart
Damn this wild young
Tell me, tell me, tell me when will I learn
Damn this wild young heart
The lyrics of Noisettes' song "Wild Young Hearts" tell the story of a young couple whose relationship has come to an end as summer turns to autumn. The singer reflects on past romances and the transience of love in the face of time. As the city sleeps, she contemplates lost lovers and broken dreams, but she won't weep for the one she's just lost. The leaves are golden, and the grand silver birch tree stands as a symbol of the beauty that surrounds us, even as we move on from old relationships.
Through the verses, the singer comes to understand that love is temporary and that the people we meet along the way are fleeting, a concept that is underscored by the use of seasonal imagery. The chorus acknowledges the wildness of youth and the inability to control the heart's desire – something that is both celebrated and lamented.
There are moments in the song where the singer repeats the phrase "damn these wild young hearts", which serves as both a refrain and a plea for understanding. The repetition of the phrase in the chorus underscores the struggle to balance love and desire with the heart's longing for stability.
Overall, the lyrics offer a poignant reflection on life, love, and the passage of time. They beautifully convey the idea that love is fleeting, and we must cherish every moment of youth while we have it.

And while the city sleeps
As the city is quiet at night,
I won't weep because I didn't keep
I won't be sad because I didn't hold onto
My boyfriend and the summer's end, is here again
My boyfriend and the end of summer have arrived once more
And the leaves are golden
The leaves have turned yellow
Under the grand silver birch tree
Beneath the majestic silver birch tree
While we're thinking 'bout the people we meet
As we reflect on the people we encountered
Dancing feet, wasters on the cover of a magazine
People's dancing feet, as well as those who waste their lives being featured on the cover of a magazine
People you've kissed, people you lust
People you've kissed, those you're attracted to
And the one's that you might not
As well as those you may not remember
Ever remember what's the use
What's the point of recalling what you can't remember?
I'm not what I was last summer
I'm not the same person I was last summer
Not who I was in the spring
Nor who I was in the spring
Tell me, tell me, tell me when will we learn
When will we gain knowledge?
We love it and we leave it and we watch it burn
We enjoy it before abandoning it and watching it perish
Damn these wild young hearts
Our uncontrollable youth and passion are frustrating
Now that the city's awake, my heart aches
Now that the city is bustling, my heart is hurting
Oh what a silly mistake it seems I've made
It appears that I've made a foolish error
You left your keys under my bed
You forgot your keys under my bed
Left a thumpin' in my head
And caused my heart to beat faster
I would say sorry, what's the use
Although I would apologize, it wouldn't be helpful
Cause, I'm not what I was last September
Because I'm not the same person as I was last September
And I don't wear the same robes in May
And I don't dress the same way in May
We know we shouldn't do it, but we do it anyway
We're aware that we shouldn't engage in it, yet we still do
We know we might regret it but it seemed OK
We realize we may come to regret it, but it seemed fine at the time
If now is forever then what's to prove
If the present is lasting, then what's the point of justification?
Cause it won't be the same next summer
Because next summer will not be the same
And I guess I'll see you in the spring
And I presume I will encounter you in the spring
Somebody tell me, tell me, tell me, when will I learn
When will I become aware and obtain knowledge?
I love it and I leave it and I watch it burn
I adore it before departing and observing its downfall
Damn this wild young heart
My uncontrollable youth and passion are frustrating
I told you damn this wild young heart
I've previously expressed dissatisfaction with my uncontrollable youth and passion
Tell me, tell me, tell me when will I learn
When will I gain knowledge?
Damn this wild young heart
My uncontrollable youth and passion are frustrating

Such a great song! It's been there for two different heartbreaks now. Bittersweet, but not too bitter. <3 Sending love to whoever stumbles here.

Some fans seem to get mad or accuse a band of "selling out" when they have their music used in commercials. I figure it's just another means of getting your music out there. Seeing the comments posted here from people who heard this song from that skin care commercial, I just think "Cool! Now more people know about the Noisettes!" This band is wildly talented and should be known by as many people as possible. I hope more people continue to discover this charming band!
