Independence Day

Free entrance and exit is locking down
The thoughts and illusions racing through my head
Are trying to hear the sound of you
Systems are shutting down again
Free entrance and exit is locking down
This is my independence day
And no armies can stop me now
I'm not stopping until you scream
You were looking for a fight
You got one coming right down tonight for you
If, up, down
Anyone looking for a limb never lent
You looking for war
You got one coming right to your front door
Me, here, now
Ready to settle this, the witness is the world
This fight you spent all night trying to win
This fight that you started, but I will end
When this is over you can begin
Thinking about what made this end
This fight you spent all night trying to win
This fight that you started, but I will end
This is my independence day
Win a battle to break away
And no armies can stop me now
I'm not stopping until you scream
You were looking for a fight
You got one coming right down tonight for you
If, up, down
Anyone looking for a limb never lent
You looking for war
You got one coming right to your front door
Me, here, now
Ready to settle this, the witness is the world
This is my independence day
Win a battle to break away
And no armies can stop me now
I'm not stopping until you scream
You were looking for a fight
You got one coming right down tonight for you
If, up, down
Anyone looking for a limb never lent
You looking for war
You got one coming right to your front door
Me, here, now
Ready to settle this, the witness is the world.

The lyrics of Nonpoint's song "Independence Day" seem to describe a conflict between two parties, with the singer being the one who's fighting back. The lines "The systems are shutting down again" and "Free entrance and exit is locking down" may refer to attempts to confine or restrict the singer in some way, possibly physically or emotionally. However, the singer resists and challenges the other party's actions: "You were looking for a fight, you got one coming right down tonight for you." The line "Win a battle to break away" suggests that the singer aims to achieve independence from the other party, but it's unclear whether this means ending a specific relationship or situation or achieving some sort of personal liberation.
One interpretation of the song could be that it's about standing up for oneself and fighting for freedom from external pressure, whether that be societal norms, expectations from others, or even one's own fears and doubts. The repeated lines "This is my independence day" and "I'm not stopping until you scream" convey a sense of determination and strength, with the singer refusing to back down until their goals are achieved.
Interestingly, the song's title itself suggests a connection to the Fourth of July holiday in the United States, which celebrates the country's independence from Great Britain. It's possible that the song's lyrics draw on similar themes of liberation and self-determination, but applied to a personal or interpersonal context rather than a national one. Overall, "Independence Day" seems to be a powerful anthem of defiance and perseverance in the face of adversity.
