That Day
Nonpoint Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It wasn't just the words that were thrown around,
It was the sound when the hit the ground runnin'
You were out for blood
And I was still tapped out from the battle before

I remember the smell in the room
It was a bad tattoo, like cheap perfume
Waiting with the windows open
Just hoping that the sun breaks through for a moment

Days turned to weeks, months into a year
I gotta bring up all the things that I want her to hear
Then the same old pat on the back
It all work out and everything will be alright

Losing sight of reality
While losing the fight to try to forget
All I have are the memories of every single word you said
Every single word you said

I remember that day
Everything changed
I remember that day
That image never fades away
I remember that day
Something died inside of me
I remember that day
That everything changed

It wasn't just a senseless situation
No sense of making something out of nothing now
I know it would be pointless at this point
In time to point out any problems now

Are you forgetting that rumors and reputation
Don't help your situation
When all you have to show the world
Is how you act out your problems, like a little girl

And if memory serves me right
You were serving up nothing but a plate of lies
And it was covered in flies
Rotten from the inside out
Excuse my words as I put it in my mouth

Yeah, losing sight of reality
While losing the fight to try to forget
All I have are the memories of every single word you said
Every single word you said

I remember that day
Everything changed
I remember that day
That image never fades away
I remember that day
Something died inside of me
I remember that day
That everything changed

You say I have a problem now
I think we have a problem here
You say I have a problem now
I say there is no way for us out of here

I remember that day
Everything changed
I remember that day
That image never fades away
I remember that day
Something died inside of me
I remember that day
Everything changed

I remember that day
That everything changed
I remember that day
That image never fades away
I remember that day
Something died inside of me
I remember that day
That everything changed

Overall Meaning

The song "That Day" by Nonpoint is about a significant event that happened in the past that still affects the singer. The first verse describes a previous altercation between the singer and another person, where words were exchanged and it left the singer feeling drained. The second verse talks about time passing and how the singer needs to speak out and confront the other person about what was said. There is also a reference to feeling like you're losing sight of reality and struggling to forget.

The chorus repeats the phrase "I remember that day" to emphasize that this event had a profound impact on the singer's life. It's clear that the person they are speaking about has caused them a lot of pain and that they are still trying to process everything that happened. The third verse is directed at the person who caused the hurt, calling them out for their behavior and warning them that their actions will have a negative effect on their reputation in the long run. The last repetition of the chorus drives home the fact that the singer can't forget what happened and that it's still affecting them.

Overall, "That Day" is a song about confronting and dealing with the aftermath of a hurtful event. It touches on themes of memory, regret, and the complex emotions that can come with trying to move on from difficult experiences.

My Girlfriend won a radio contest and we got to go bowling with Nonpoint and All that Remains before seeing them live in Salt Lake City. It was the coolest thing ever.

I have a very extreme and elaborate true story about my brother and I having a horrific rifle accident when we were 5 years old, 30 years ago. The song "That Day," has seriously gotten me by and helped me deal with the emotions that go with that tragic event. This song nails it so hard, word for word in it's entirety. I just wanted to thank Nonpoint for making this song, I don't think they could ever know just how much this song helps me. Thank you Nonpoint. You truly rock.

You can never EVER outgrow the classics, and this one has always been on my playlist!
Years later and this track still bangs! Its making a huge comeback on SiriusXM’s octane and I couldn’t be happier about it! Would love to hear an acoustic version to this one! Perhaps on a greater hits album?

@therealaustinpowers1967

It was cool seeing them play this song during the Emerald Cities Tour back in March. The singer for Sump Cyco came and performed the song with them.
