Take It Back
Norah Jones Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Take it away from
Take it away from the people in the street
Give it away
Give it away to
Give it away to the others that you meet
History becomes what we make it
If you really want something you take it
Kindness becomes something we've shaken
For the people that have, don't know what they've gained
Looking for sun, but it only rains
In the heat of the day, I washed it away
Gotta find a way to make it better
In the dead of the night searching for fame
In the glitz and the light, the ugly remains
Looking for sun, standing in rain
I find a way to make a real change
History will be what we make it
Something doesn't fit the bill, we're not gonna fake it
If we really need something we'll have to take it
Honesty won't be something we shake
Take it away
Take it away from
Take it away from the people in the street
Give it away
Give it away to
Give it away to the others that you meet
For the people that have, don't know what they've gained
Looking for sun, but it only rains
In the heat of the day, I washed it away
Gotta find a way to make it better
In the dead of the night searching for fame
In the glitz and the light, the ugly remains
Looking for sun, standing in rain
I find a way to make a real change
I can see the sun
shining brightly on the lyrics of Norah Jones's Take It Back. In this song, Jones encourages listeners to take action and make a difference in the world. She sings about taking things away from those who don't deserve them and giving them to others who are more deserving. Jones also touches on the idea that history is made by those who take action, and that kindness and honesty are important values to uphold.
The first stanza encourages listeners to take things away from those who don't deserve them and give them to others who are more deserving. Jones is encouraging listeners to make a difference and help those in need. She then goes on to say that history is made by those who take action and that if something doesn't fit the bill, we shouldn't fake it. This line could be interpreted as a message to stand up for what we believe in and not compromise our values. Jones goes on to sing that if we really need something, we will have to take it, but honesty won't be something we shake.
The second stanza speaks about the struggles of life and the need to find a way to make a real change. She sings about people who have everything but don't know what they've gained. She then goes on to say that we need to find a way to make things better and make a real change. The lyrics "Looking for sun, but it only rains, in the heat of the day, I washed it away" could be interpreted as a metaphor for the challenges of life and the need to find a way to overcome them. Jones ends the song by singing that she can see the sun shining brightly, suggesting that there is hope for a brighter tomorrow.

on The Nearness of You
The Nearness Of You - Camille Thurman -Lyrics
Its not the pale moon that excites me
That thrills and delights me, oh no
Its just the nearness of you
It isn't your sweet conversation
That brings this sensation, oh no
Its just the nearness of you
When you're in my arms
And I feel you so close to me
All my wildest dreams do come true
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me
The right to hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness of you
Saxophone Musical Interlude
I need no soft lights to enchant me
If you'll only grant me
The right to hold you ever so tight
And to feel in the night
The nearness, the nearness of you
