The band was formed by Andreas Kubat and Sebastian Bohn (DJ Boon) in 1997.
Their debut album "Small Chamber Works" was released in 2001 on their own label "1St. Decade Records".
Later, Larry Lowe (Guitars) joined the band and brought some rock influences. Since then they sound similar to bands like The Faint, Fischerspooner and Death in Vegas, with both rock and electro influences.
In 2004, Northern Lite released their sequel album called "Reach the Sun".
In the same year, Larry left Northern Lite again and Sascha Littek took over his work.
One year later the band won the German Dance Award as "Best Indie/Electronic Artist" and they released their third album "Temper". The album "Unisex" followed in 2006.
At the German "Bundesvision Song Contest 2007" Northern Lite represented their home state Thuringia, performing the song Enemy with the group "Chapeau Claque".
Later the same year, Sascha Littek left the band, too. He was replaced with Valerian Herdam. A fifth album "Super Black" followed in 2008.
Their latest album, "Letters & Signs - Part One", was released on the 18th September, 2009, followed by Letters & Signs - Part Two in 2010.

You Are Not Alone
Northern Lite Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And I know, there's nothing I could do
Can't you see
There's so much more defined, you and me
And even more behind
You're not alone, not alone
Settle down, find a home
I mean it right that overblown, yeah
For the start, see you don't have to run
Take a heart and talk to everyone
They're like you, they have a lot to tell
Just like you, Only their soul to sell
You're not alone, not alone
Settle down, find a home
You're not alone, not alone
You won't make it on your own
You're not alone, not alone
Settle down, find a home
You're not alone, not alone
I mean it right that overblown
In the song "You Are Not Alone" by Northern Lite, the lyrics express the understanding of the singer towards someone who is going through a difficult time. The repetition of the phrase "And I know, it's something wrong with you" acknowledges that the person is struggling, but the singer also realizes that there is nothing they can do to directly solve their problems. This expresses a sense of empathy and compassion.
The lyrics continue with the line "Can't you see, there's so much more defined, you and me, and even more behind." This suggests that there is a deeper connection between the singer and the person they are addressing, beyond just the surface level. It implies that there is potential for growth and understanding if the person opens up to others and shares their burdens.
The chorus emphasizes the message of the song, assuring the listener that they are not alone. It encourages them to "settle down, find a home" both physically and emotionally, encouraging them to find stability and support. The line "You won't make it on your own" reinforces the idea that reaching out and seeking help is crucial for overcoming challenges.
Overall, the lyrics of "You Are Not Alone" convey a message of support, understanding, and the importance of connection with others during times of struggle.
