The songwriter quickly becomes a national icon in Belgium, staying at the top of the national album charts for seven weeks. The album easily reaches the platinum status in Belgium and is backed by shows on big music festivals like Werchter, Pinkpop and a sold out club tour. Joost moves to New York to live and work on his second album. In 2004, Another Lonely Soul sees daylight. With Never back down receiving major airplay in Italy, Spain and Portugal, this time the ‘new star’ is rising in other parts of Europe as well.
In 2005 tragedy strikes. During a show in the biggest concert hall of Brussels he stumbles off stage and crushes his heel bone. Total rehabilitation will take two years. Joost struggling with his physical and mental health takes off to Bangor, an isle near the French coast of Brittany. The trip has a healing effect on him and Novastar’s third album Almost Bangor is born. The first singles of the album are Mars needs woman (in Belgium) and Because (in The Netherlands). Since the release of Almost Bangor in 2008, the album achieved a platinum status in Belgium and golden status in The Netherlands.
Joost’s voice has matured beautifully with the years, solid and fragile when needed, taking you by the hand and the heart, floating on clever and inventive arrangements - prominently present but always serving the song. The result is a truly personal sound.
Joost Zweegers is currently working on the next Novastar album.

You think the whole thing is wrong
How could somebody care 'bout you
With the clock tickin' on?
You say you'd better get up, shake yourself down
Look after number one
You'd better look out look out look out look out
Don't step on the crack
Or you could fall down
I say what if you're powerless
You're pinned to the ground?
But my words bounce back off your chest
You only hear your own sound
You say you'd better get up, shake yourself down
Look after number one
You'd better look out look out look out look out
Never lose track, could be a knife in your back
Don't step on the crack
Or you could fall down
I hear you're back on your own again
What are you gonna do?
Could it be your philosophy
Is not working for you?
You say you'd better get up, shake yourself down
Look after number one
You'd better look out look out look out look out
Never lose track, could be a knife in your back
Don't step on the crack
Or you could fall down
The song "Fall Down" by Novastar is a powerful ballad that speaks about the human condition and the need for support and therapy. The lyrics describe a person who is afraid to seek out help, thinking that nobody could care about them, and that the clock is always ticking against them. The singer tries to offer some comfort, suggesting that sometimes, despite best efforts, life can pin one to the ground and leave them powerless. However, their words seem to go unheard, and the person persists in their resolve to look out for number one, to never lose track, or they could fall down.
The chorus emphasizes this philosophy, but it also hints at the potential pitfalls of such an intense focus on self-preservation. The verse "could it be your philosophy is not working for you" suggests that the person's independence and resilience have not led them to the happiness and security they desire. The final stanza reveals that the person is "back on your own again," suggesting that they have already fallen down, and the singer is once again trying to reach them.
Overall, "Fall Down" is a poignant reflection on the challenges of the human experience and the importance of seeking help and support when needed. The lyrics are relatable and empathetic, reminding listeners that they are not alone in their struggles.
