They've released nearly 10 full albums (Including the Remix album Squeezed), 1 mini-album and over 20 singles since 2002. Their second album musiQ was their breakthrough hit, and their single Hana sold over 661,000 copies in less than two months. Their music has also been used in a few anime (Naruto, Bleach, Code Geass R2) and in few TV shows (including the American movie, Fantastic Four), and the film Train Man (電車男).
In July 2005, right in the verge of releasing their 12th single, Kizuna, Katchan (founding member and drummer of the band) left the band due to tendinitis in his pinky finger and also because of creative differences. His place has yet to be filled.
Their song Ikenai Taiyou was used as an opening theme to japanese hit drama Hanazakari no Kimitachi e / Hana Kimi.

The lyrics of ORANGE RANGE’s song O2 are about the perseverance and determination necessary to fight for what one believes in. The singer is driven by his love for someone (koi kogarete), and is willing to fight any battle to protect them, even if he does not know what lies ahead (tatakai wa yukue shirazu). The chorus speaks about the idea that despite the end of the world or any other drastic change, there are certain things that remain unchanged and must be protected (namida wo koraete demo mamorubeki mono ga bokura ni wa aru). The singer is willing to fight for these things, even though he does not know what the future holds. The song also touches on the idea that even in the darkest of times (kurai yami wo masshiro ni someru yo), there is still hope.
One interesting aspect of this song is the use of the phrase “nagareboshi,” which refers to shooting stars. In Japanese culture, it is considered lucky to wish upon a shooting star. The lyrics use this imagery to convey the singer’s determination and the hope he holds onto even when everything else seems bleak.
Another interesting aspect of this song is the use of color symbolism. The lyrics mention a “nana iro no sekai,” which translates to a “seven-colored world.” This could be interpreted as a reference to the colors of the rainbow, which are often associated with hope and promise. Additionally, the lyrics talk about turning “hikari” (light) into “yami” (darkness), which could be interpreted as a metaphor for the struggle between good and evil.
Overall, O2 is a powerful and uplifting song that encourages listeners to never give up in the face of adversity. The lyrics are full of hope and determination, and the song’s catchy melody makes it an enjoyable listen.
