Obie Trice III was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan by his mother, along with three brothers. He is of African American and German descent. Trice was given a karaoke machine by his mother when he was eleven and he used it to rhyme over instrumentals from artists such as N.W.A. By the age of fourteen, he was attending rap battle spots around Detroit, notably including the Hip Hop Shop.
Obie Trice went by the name of Obie 1 during this time, but when he first met Proof, who was about to introduce him at the Hip Hop Shop, Proof asked him, "What's your name? Your real name, no gimmicks." He was then introduced as Obie Trice, and has kept his real name as his rap name. Trice was introduced to Eminem through D12 member Bizarre. Hot Rapper: Obie Trice. Rolling Stone. Accessed January 22, 2008. Later, Trice received a call from his manager informing him that he would be having dinner with Eminem, and later that night they went to a Kid Rock party.
Before first major release, early years on Shady Records
As an acquaintance of D12 member Bizarre, Obie was signed after a personal introduction to Eminem allowed him to impress the Detroit rap legend in-person. The general public were first introduced to Obie on D12's Devil's Night album on a skit. His one-line opener ("Obie Trice: Real name, no gimmicks" - taken from his song "Rap Name" and referring to the lack of a rap pseudonym) on Eminem's lead single; "Without Me", off the critically-acclaimed and commercially successful The Eminem Show increased public awareness of his name and slogan. Obie also appeared in the video for the song, body-slamming a dummy representing Moby. Appearances on DJ Green Lantern's official Shady Records Invasion mixtape series, allowed him to further his public recognition.
In 2002, Trice appeared in 8 Mile as one of the rappers in the Chin Tiki parking lot scene. Trice also has a featured appearance as Big Pimpin' in the Detroit made independent feature film Life Goes On, which will premiere at the Cannes International Film Festival in May 2006.
A short while before the first Invasion mixtape was released, he became involved in the Eminem-Benzino beef after being called out by Benzino with the line "Obie Trice/You's a buster" in a diss-track directed at Eminem and Shady Records. In response to Benzino, Obie released the track "Welcome to Detroit City" (a track over the beat from Cam'ron's song "Welcome to New York City") on the first Invasion mixtape. He also joined his label-mates in the highly publicised Ja Rule-50 Cent beef but never received a direct response from Ja Rule.
Cheers
His debut album Cheers was released on September 23, 2003 with its first single "Got Some Teeth" being well received on radio in a number of countries. He also released the songs "Don't Come Down" and "The Set Up". The album consists of 17 tracks with production from Eminem, Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Mike Elizondo, Emile, Fredwreck and Denaun Porter. Artists featuring on Cheers include Busta Rhymes, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Nate Dogg and D12 among others. The album was eventually certified platinum by the RIAA.
Second Rounds On Me
As of 2005 he has begun work on his second album, entitled 2nd Rounds On Me, which was expected later that year. Never making the 2005 calendar mark, Obie set sights on releasing it in 2006. Although the album will be released by Shady Records, it will feature a lineup primarily comprised of local Detroit rappers with decreased presence from Eminem and other Shady/Aftermath artists.
Shooting
On December 31, 2005, Trice was shot twice while driving on the Lodge Expressway by Wyoming Avenue in Detroit. One of the bullets entered his skull. Trice was able to drive off the expressway, where his girlfriend waved down police. He was taken to Providence Hospital and released later that day. Doctors are still contemplating whether or not to remove the bullet which entered his head, as it may be too dangerous to operate.
Leaving Shady Records, current situation
Obie Trice left Shady Records on June 26, 2008, because of a dispute because Interscope claimed they would not fund another Obie Trice CD. This news was first put into circulation by Hip-Hop blog Urban Lookout; a few days after they broke the news, a track (Giants) leaked confirming the rumor. Even though Obie has left Shady Records, Eminem's manager Paul Rosenberg says that Eminem and Obie are still close friends, and that Eminem will still work with Obie Trice on future projects.

I'm gettin mine, 'bout to shine around here
Lights in the bezel, price up a level
Twenties on the feet, catch him in the street
Twenties on the Hemi, nigga made his quota
Nigga still (Shady), even though we over
That don't stop my dollars from rollin over the mower
Obie never slow up, gettin it sho' 'nuff
I'ma be a problem 'til the world freezes over
Pistol in this holster, shootin like the Pistons
Bitches on his dick cause they know he about his business
Beatin up the block is somethin very expensive
Ice in his watch, haters payin attention
Trice in the cockpit navigatin the engine
Aviators watchin for haters tryin to stick him
Get money 'til the day I'm a victim
'Til I lay beneath the clay all stiff then
But for now I'ma get my rich in
Double that dollar - flippin
Got money on my mind, no time for nonsense
I'm gettin mine, 'bout to shine around here
Lights in the bezel, price up a level
Twenties on the feet, catch him in the street
Bet a nigga like me never catch him on the beat
Get that bet twice, I'ma catch him with the heat
Money on my mind, homie on the grind
Been away a minute but it's my time
Jumpin out of cars, in and out of broads
Spendin, we ain't penny addin, we be gettin ours
Show you how to floss, show you buy the bars
Y'all all talk, we notice y'all flaws
Y'all in-laws, we married to the game
Y'all just the mayne, next to the mayne
I been spendin change since the dope game
Then he made a name for himself after cocaine
Call him Kwame Kilpatrick, you could try to catch him
Dope I got access, no text messagin
Trice is an asset
Niggaz in the trap know his past say he know where the cash at
Louie on his toes, dubs on the vehicle
BME, I see it though
I'ma need it my nigga then repeat it though
D-boy in that two-seater, let's go!
Been away a minute but it's my time
In and out of jets, him is but a vet
Been around the world, him ain't finished yet
And I don't need London to bloke or be stuntin
I poke out like a bunion in any country I run in
With any culture the code is his ulcer
Thug co-exist in the hood to Nova Scotia
Fists full of dollars, lipstick
on a nigga's collar courtesy of your missus
You don't wanna miss this, misfit
Mr. Michigan, gettin this, richness, in
I'm a better me, tell me who 'head of he?
I'm somethin like veteran usin letters over melodies
Trice is still in it
Real name, no gimmick, never fold cause of business
(Business) Bitches (bitches)
I'ma get it fo' X over, nigga you be the witness
Got money on my mind, no time for nonsense
I'm gettin mine, 'bout to shine around here
Lights in the bezel, price up a level
Twenties on the feet, catch him in the street
Bet a nigga like me never catch him on the beat
Get that bet twice, I'ma catch him with the heat
Money on my mind, homie on the grind
Been away a minute but it's my time
In Obie Triceโs song โMy Time,โ the artist talks about the hustle and grind to get and maintain his wealth. The lyrics are a testament to his dedication and focus on achieving success. The first lines of the song, which read โGot money on my mind, no time for nonsense, Iโm gettinโ mine, โbout to shine around here,โ indicate his focus on achieving financial success and not being distracted by anything that will hinder him from doing so. He then goes on to describe his luxurious lifestyle with โlights in the bezel,โ โtwenties on the feet,โ and โtwenties on the Hemi,โ which appears to be a reference to his car.
Trice makes a reference to the fact that heโs still associated with Shady Records and Eminem, even though they have technically parted ways: โNigga still (Shady), even though we over.โ However, he makes it clear that it doesnโt matter since heโs solely focused on making money. He describes his work ethic with the lyrics โObie never slow up, gettinโ it shoโ โnuff, Iโmma be a problem โtil the world freezes over,โ which is a testament to his dedication to working hard. He also talks about the risks that come with his job, saying โPistol in this holster, shootin' like the Pistons,โ while also describing the rewards with โIce in his watch, haters payin attention.โ
Overall, the song โMy Timeโ highlights Obie Triceโs dedication and focus on achieving success and wealth, while also acknowledging the risks and rewards that come with it.

"Spend Some Time"
[Eminem]
If there's any bitches in this room, then there's something I gotta say
For all the fools who fell for the first girl who comes their way
I've been down that road and now I'm back, sittin' on square one
Tryna pick myself up where I started from
[Obie Trice]
I never woulda thought that I'd see you outta control
Even though my penis was deep down in your hole
You should know between us we was like mates to soul
Nothing could intervene us, especially no hoes
You was more so the chalant type, I chose
To more shows, haunted you nights I suppose
That's how it go, with time spent, emotion grows
In the beginning, friends we decided to roll
So who's responsible when you get excited, explode
And Obie's grinning, then you invite that Obie's cold
But bitches the gon' talk, niggas they gon' hate
We established this way before we became mates
So whats required is that you chill with all that fire
Get your desire when I retire
[Chorus]
Spend some time with me, say that you'll be mine
I never thought I'd find someone to be mine
Lord knows I was right cuz you just crossed the line
Spend some time with me, say that you'll be mine
[Eminem]
I used to say I never met a girl like you before
Still ain't got a fuckin' clue as to who you truly are
Almost went as far as introducing you to my daughters
Till you went as far as goin' and snoopin' through my drawers
Now I just feel stupid for the loop that you threw me for
Can't believe I almost flew the coop for some stupid whore
You used to say all you wanted was for me to be yours
All I ever wanted from you was a few booty calls
If you recall I used to treat you as a groupie broad
When we fucked I refused to even take my jewelry off
But it threw me off the first time I called and you blew me off
It was a shock, it struck me as odd but it turned me on
You started getting moody on me, pretty soon we'd argue
And the ruder you got, the more beautiful you got to me
And who woulda even knew that who woulda even thought possibly
Cupid could shoot another one of them God damn darts at me
It's true that I got shot in the heart
But when someone seems too good to be true, they usually are
But see, when you're in it it's too hard to see
Till you pull up and see some other dude's car parked and reach
Up under the seat as your heart starts to beat
Before you make a decision that's life altering
And just as you halt and you turn and you start to leave
You hear them words echoing, almost haunting, that taunting ring
[Chorus]
[Stat Quo]
In most cases, Stat's attitude is fuck-a-bitch
My only motive is to get head and fuck a bitch
But you was different, thought we shared a covenant
Even held your hand in public, we sufferin' because of this
Shorty on some whole 'notha other shit
Tryna play sick thinkin' i'mma trick off rick
I'll admit, I was caught in the mix, down to commit
Feed you the best of me, I shoulda fed you piss
We started off closer than close
But who coulda predicted to know, your triflin' ways woulda stopped our growth
And the final result, back in that same boat
I ask myself, do I love these hoes? NO!
[50 cent]
Em introduced us, "50 this is Tanya, Tanya this is 50"
Then slid off and left her to kick it with me
I complimented her, I said you have very nice lips
With my imagination, I could see her suckin' my dick
We played the phone game, a week later, shit changed fast
Had her comin' over in a cab to give me some ass
Downtown Manhattan on the balcony, stare at the skyline
Penthouse full of imported shit, you know how I grind
She got to talkin', talkin' like an opportunist too
Why talk when suckin' my dick is the real career move?
Said she's an inspiring actress, she do videos for practice
Yeah, yeah, know how many times I done heard that shit?

hammymrm I agree. The women that you want you can't have. And the ones that are drop dead gorgeous, are only available if you have money. Example; If Jay Z worked at McDonald's, Beyonce wouldn't give him the time of day. Keep in mind that Jay Z isn't the most handsome man period. Money, Power, Security. I haven't had one good woman come my way yet.
