Based in the city of central Russia called Ivanovo OLD CHAPEL was known in underground with two unholy releases – 'Tales from the Churchyard' and 'Symptoms of Possession'.

In the end of 2016, after several years of silence, the chapel has opened the gates again to unleash all the demonic creatures dwelling and waiting inside. Inspired by old horror movies and witching rites, the band tells nine chilling stories of horror, decay and possession through their newest album 'Visions from Beyond' (Chaos Records, CR-049). Among the prevailing uncompromising fast-temped tracks 'Visions from Beyond' also incorporates some measured dismal chants in a doom metal vein. Oppressive sound, catchy lead-guitars and bleeding vocals form chilling atmosphere of the album making you feel buried deep under the floor of old cursed chapel.

When I go to cemeteries to clean relatives' graves, I sometimes wander around and pull back the growth on long forgotten ones and clean them up a bit and literally say the person's name, wondering how long it's been since their name was actually spoken out loud on Earth.

Someone loved Maude dearly. A grave that is a tree trunk that has been cut at the top is symbolic of a life cut short. at 14 years old (dying and probably being buried near her 15th birthday), I'm sure it was a very grievous blow to the family.

I know. Imagine how he stops vandals. I guess their bodies are never found. There's a columnbarium in Alabama that I frequent that is guarded by wasps, black widows and scorpions. Hawthorne is a tree used in preventing witchcraft as well as used for magical purposes in England and Scotland. Makes sense it would be planted on a grave of someone suspected of practicing witchcraft.

Thank you for the woodman's stone with carvings. I saw one up in around Oneida, NY years ago. The date on the tomb was born 1750 death 1825, and other old tomb stones with chiseled markings on them dating back to the mid 1700's. The family generations from way back fought in the Indian Wars before the 13 Colonies were ever born. Their family is English stock and now mixed with American. Am proud of this family because they still have a large family and keeping up with the traditions of their forefather's. Am still proud now, cause I just spoke to one of the great great great great great grandchildren of this family. I love history, and they had plenty of it. Sidestep, you do a wonderful work by looking into these old cemeteries. One day, they will all be emptied. Cause the Lord, promised he would bring them all back on earth once the earth has been cleansed from all wickedness and plagues. And his Kingdom (or government) will rule from Heaven over the earth! What a blessing that will be to see these first pioneers of this new land.

He was a sweet doggy . He was loving the attention . Those were some old graves for sure . It's sad to see them falling apart , but you can tell that they were once beautiful headstones and markers . The witch grave was spooky . It looked like some of the rocks were burned . I remember there used to be an old tell about a woman in Hall county Ga. and people said she was a witch . This reminded me of that . Some people would go to her for "medicines " and to have their fortunes told . I knew a woman that wanted a baby so much , so she went to visit the witch . The witch told the woman that she would go on a trip and she told her some different things to do while on this trip with her husband . So the woman did what the witch told her to do and sure enough the woman and her husband finally got pregnant and had a little girl . I don't remember all of the things she said she had to do while on the trip , but I do know that while they were on their trip they did get pregnant . lol !! I don't really believe it all that witch stuff , but I do believe in old timey remedies for medicines . I think that God put things on this earth to help us no doubt . I believe those things got handed down from generations to generations and if a old woman was using these remedies.... they were accused of being witches. Some might really have been practicing evil things and those are the scary ones that I .....for one don't care to fool with . Yikes !! The headstone for Maude was pretty sad. She was only 15 years old when she died.
It would be interesting who is buried under that pile of rocks. That she was a witch might just be a tale that cropped up over the years. There might be some public records about who it is. It's pity there's no headstone. It could be that it was someone who had no family and was too poor to afford a headstone. At the very least, she was a human being.

There's a beautiful Pre & Civil War cemetery in Columbus, MS that has lovely monuments and when I lived there would wander through or take visitors to see and pay respects. And if there is a local historical society they may have insight into the witches grave.

I very much enjoyed this episode. I love and look forward to all your postings. It's so obvious how much your care about your local history and preserving the past for future generations. I am always amazed by the famous Red Georgia earth we see as you forage out these cemetery plots and homesteads long forgotten. I along with many are fascinated with the Early American and Civil War history that Georgia has. I loved the Dog in this episode. Large like a wolf in comparison to the lady pictured with him. Collies and German Shepards are large like that and sweet like this one was. Thank you, for keeping us entertained and educated during these Isolation Days.

Love your videos, I live in Savannah ga and there are a lot of graves here with tree stump or tree cravings in marble... if it a short stump it means that person lived a short life, medium height means life a was cut short and tall means full life...keep up great work!!!

Hello Robert, I went visiting cemeteries last week and I picked up and straightened up tombstones that had fallen down. I have one more to fix it is a very tall monument that has fallen off the base I'm going to level up the base and take a tripod and block and tackle to lift it up.. gonna be hard to do buddy

Such interesting surnames. The British meaning of Lew is a place of shelter. So there's a Buckhouse, a Shellhouse, and Hilton is like a great big house and a Rig is a horse-drawn wheeled vehicle for carrying passengers to the various houses. Sounds like a fun community.

About stones covering a witch’s grave, I once saw several graves that looked old that weren’t located in a cemetery, but in a small clearing at the edge of a wooded area. Each grave was covered by large rocks that were piled high. I learned they were thought to be members of a family, and one was thought to be a Native American woman. Do you have any info or thoughts about such a place?

The first one with the canopy was done like that to keep the food cool..Yes, they built the boxes over the graves because it use to be traditional for families to picnic at loved ones graves..They ate on top of them, and sometimes if you had money you would see them designed real fancy like that one..Sometimes they even had concrete stools made too..

The dog reminded me of a true event. At one of our local cemeteries an old man and his dog lived next to this cemetery. The old man died and was buried in the cemetery next to his home. One of his children took the dog to care for it but every day the dog would go to the cemetery and lay on his masters grave. The dog wouldn't eat and soon it died also. How did that dog know that his master, buried within a sealed concrete vault, know his master rested there?

tpniefer I think animals have a deep sense of our souls! I have Maine Coon Cats.. they sense my pain and sadness and come and lay on me. It is a mystery for sure. I have always said... they PICK US when the bond is right! That is a beautiful story. I have known people to put it in writing or tell family members to have their pets put down when they die. My Grandfather had the family put his dog down and buried with him...😢. Today it is hard to find a Vet to put a healthy animal down.

We have a graveyard in our region that was first created in the 18th century. It is made up of mostly 18th and 19th century graves. The poetry on most of the stones will make you cry if you have any kind of heart in you. So much personal information is on them as well. I have spent hours in that cemetery just reading the stones and the messages inscribed on them for generations to come to read. It is sad that so few bother. At some point you get to feel like you know the people there when you start linking one family with another. It is heartbreaking to see the number of children, and sometimes whole families wiped out by some kind of epidemic that most likely we have cures for today. A lot of women dying in childbirth. How these people survived to bring forth a new generation is incredible. The saying, “Only the strong survive” is certainly true about the people who came before us in this country.

I live in the southern US and I do landscaping, I cut a few churches and church cemeteries, on the side I help others with finding and cleaning up family gravesites in the rural community I live in, and on my days off I go to the local historical gravesite and I tend to the long abandoned gravestones, our local large cemetery has graves from the civil war and before that, I look at some of these half covered headstones and foot stones and wonder how long it's been since someone they knew visited their resting place, and I wonder about how many people don't even know about all of these graves that are completely covered, and how many more we can't see hidden under the brush and tall grass

In Lone Fir Cemetery in Portland, OR., there are a least a half dozen Woodsmen of The World markers. The deceased, in life, had purchased burial insurance from the Woodsman company who were responsible for the markers. Thank you for showing this marker. what a sweet idea to have a dog who lives nearby who comes to visit the people at the cemetery. a lot of the people who visit a cemetery are mourners who might be feeling lonely or are hurting and to have a sweet friendly dog run up to greet them would completely turn their mood around 🥺 that should be a thing in more cemeteries

I’ve seen a good many Woodmen of the World monuments over the years. My dad taught me how to look for them when I was young. After most any graveside service I’ve ever been to with my dad, we ended up at the back of the cemetery looking at the old graves. My mama’s parents are buried in the cemetery at Salem Baptist Church in Jasper Georgia. I have a good bit of family in that one but there is also some Native American graves in the back. Many of them unmarked.
Have you noticed the number of baby graves that just say “Son of.. or Daughter of...” and then you look at the dates and the baby was like 3 or 4 months old, I’ve even seen them up to a year. Did they have a waiting period to see if the kid was gonna make it before they named it or was there a price cut on generic tomb stones? How do you go even a month and not name your baby?

Is this in Georgia? If so, I might have been there. I have to go dig through my pictures now and see if it's the same place we visited a few years ago lol. The "witch" grave looked just like that, from what I can remember. It was absolutely beautiful, but a tad creepy as well.

Near where I live there is a baby's grave made and carved from marble!! So beautiful!!! It's a baby's bed and there's an indent in the pillow,. and the blanket is turned back! No writing use your imagination!!!!!!

There is a 'log cabin' (actual log cabin replica) headstone in a cemetery by me in the Cleveland OH suburb. A few very unique ones in this particular cemetery.

As a find-'a-grave member, an opportunity to photograph all headstones and put them on the website. There's so many cemeteries that are lost , never to be found. And family who aren't able to travel or even find some of these places, you're already there! Just a suggestion??

My mom lived in Belhaven, N.C. and when I went to visit her, she took me to a cemetery in the area. The legend was that a witch was buried there and every so often, her coffin would emerge from the ground. When Mom and I went, sure enough! It was up out of the ground and had moved to the side of the cemetery - not even close to her burial site. My mom called the city and they acted like it was just a normal thing! Years later, Mom told me that they had finally figured out that a part of the Pamlico River was causing the problem and they moved the grave to prevent further issues with the "Witch's grave".

I would love to see this one again seems there could be many stories there ! I enjoy your videos in the rural areas, but then I feel the loneliness of the past times..As a early baby boomer I can relate to those times. It was a great time. I also can relate to the incident about the child and the aspirin tablets. In 1955 when I was four, My family all went to a drive in theater and left me with my granddad . While he was not watching he heard a noise and saw me on the other side of room next to the water bucket . I had got the bottle of aspirin on the counter and had eaten almost the whole bottle. It just happened to be new bottle of 100. My grandad took off to the hospital and stopped by the theater and had my family paged. Just shows u that things do happen to others. The difference is I survived because of my stomach pumping.

@John Dee Smith I thought that as a possibility. People who have never "broke ground" don't understand the amount of large field stones that turn up. Came in hand when needing to build a home and clear land for farming in the past.

You are correct in that it a woman was considered to be a witch no church would have buried in a Christian church yard! But often a woman was considered a witch if she was knowledgeable about healing, weather, and just the natural world. Life ignorance. But there are REAL witches and warlocks.

A crown on a tombstone, whether an engraving or the whole stone, represents the glory of life after death and the deceased's ascension into heaven. It also may mean immortality, victory and righteousness

Now this is a Southern take on the Witch grave. Back in the day they would actually bury a witch in a church cemetery. The reason behind it was that the holy ground would hold the witch and they would always cover them with stones or slabs for the same reason. Their grave would almost always be on the outermost part of the cemetery. You can find these graves in Southern Virginia down to Georgia. They almost all are the same "story" around them. I have yet to see one with a name on it but some times you can luck up and it will be in church records

We too have witch graves here in New England area. I’ve been to one so far. And it’s very haunted by the witch!. Just because she is blocked into her grave don’t mean she can’t mess with electric devices or even mess with you while your there.

I know that in the Colonial times, if you were deemed a witch or warlock, or if condemned to death for adultery, many times they were "stoned" to death. The stones were piled on top of the person while alive until they died from the crushing weight. The stones were then left to hold the evil spirit down underground and keep them from haunting the living.

I have never seen grave stones like the ones You folks have there in that part of GA. I am from the Phila., PA area and the ones up this way are "ground to sky" stones. and mausoleums for multiple family burials (not ALL family plots though). I DO remember only one like in the video, and that was for a Priest right outside a Catholic church back in the 1960's when I was in grade school. Great posts, SA. I subscribed

To add mystery and intrigue surrounding the witch's grave, as soon as you are filming approaching the grave something happens. If you change the playback speed to 0.25 (found in the settings options) you can clearly hear a voice say "GET outta here!!" @ 11:34. Raising the volume to nearly maximum and using headphones will make it easier to hear. You don't hear the voice at normal playback speed. Pretty interesting. Adding to the mystery and intrigue, while still listening at the 0.25 playback speed see if you can hear a small child around the witch's grave starting at 11:38.
