You scratch all day. You barely sleep at night
But when the works all done you know where I'll be found
High up in the hayloft rollin' around
Parked in the woodshed Saturday night
Grand Ole Opry by the dashboard light
Baby's on the bench seat ready to go
Honey lets have a roll in the
Hey good-lookin' country gal
Hey good-lookin' country gal
Mouse in the corn crib. Pig in a pen
Pitchforks turn just to circle again
It's a barnyard two-step, do-si-do
Raisin' up a ruckus 'til the rooster crows
Parked in the woodshed Saturday night
Grand Ole Opry by the dashboard light
Baby's on the bench seat ready to go
So if you want to have fun,
Honey lets have a roll in the
Hey good-lookin' country gal
Hey good-lookin' country gal
Hey good-lookin' country gal
Hey pretty mama, let the good times roll
'Cause this ole bird dog's rarin' to go
Now when it comes to farmin', a-foolin' around
Let's strike a match and burn the barn down
Parked in the woodshed Saturday night
Grand Ole Opry by the dashboard light
Baby's on the bench seat ready to go
So if you want to have fun,
Honey lets have a roll in the
Hey good-lookin' country gal
Hey good-lookin' country gal
Let's have a roll in the
Hey good-lookin' country gal
Old Crow Medicine Show's song "Country Gal" is a blend of folk and country music that depicts the daily struggles of a farmer's life. The song begins by expressing the hardship of farming, how the work is never-ending, and sleep is a scarcity. However, despite all of this, there is a rare pleasure that rural life brings, and that is represented by "rollin' around" in the hayloft. The song then transitions into a weekend party with a catchy chorus of "Hey good-lookin' country gal," accompanied by the imagery of animals on a farm and a barnyard two-step.
The chorus of "Hey good-lookin' country gal" is repeated several times throughout the song, emphasizing the desire to have a good time by one farmer, who seems enamored with a particular woman. He wants her to have a good time with him, and he's willing to go wherever she wants to go, even if it means burning the barn down. There is a sense of reckless abandon in this song, and it seems that the farmer is tired of the monotony of his daily life and wants to break free and let loose.
Overall, "Country Gal" is a song about finding joy in the small things in life and making the most of it. It expresses the struggle of farming life while balancing it with the pleasures of a good time on the weekend. It's a reminder that even though life can be hard, there are ways to find happiness in the midst of it all.

Its more of a tribute to Hank Williams. The similarity is obvious as well as lyrical content. Its a friendly nod, I like it

Any track that Kevin sings on is great. Can we say Humdinger??!! He just has this certain tongue in cheek sensibility. Love it.

This is a lot like Hank William's "Hey Good Lookin'"
MadMonkeyBoy08
Not really. The progression of the song generally and the melody of it is somewhat similar throughout the song and the chorus's lyrics are very similar too. I'm not hating on them because I love them. I'm just stating that it's a lot like that song.

I believe that was the intention. I doubt that OCMS did it on accident.
