Old Man Luedecke left the big old city of Toronto, met a girl in the Yukon, fell in love, bought a banjo and fell in love again. After a couple of years of love and banjo and the makings of a brilliant performing career in sunny Halifax, he returned to the Yukon with his sweethearts. There he woodshedded. He wrote a ton of songs over the next year and a half. He held regular gigs playing banjo in a gambling hall with can-can girls and in a honky tonk called the Snakepit accompanying piano barnacle Bob. Even made an appearance at the Dawson City Music Festival. After a time, he left again for Halifax to renew musical acquaintances and record his debut CD Mole in the Ground. That CD has become a smash on college radio, was featured on CBC's Atlantic Airwaves and is a hot item in stores and at shows. He continues to live in Halifax and perform there and around the country to ever-wider acclaims. His stage show blends hokum and inspiration into powerful and fun entertainment that will delight young and old. He's still sweet on the girl he met up there in Yukon, and the banjo

Send My Troubles Away
Old Man Luedecke Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
They skip towards me with a chattering sound
This night alone, was splendid grown
Had a hopeful green beginning but a fiery end
Will you ever know the good in you's been found
Will you ever know the good in you's been found
Were you growing in the city all alone
I approach my door, and my life before
Will chance ever serve a night like this again
This autumn may just drown me in my home
This autumn may just drown me in my home
I'll send my troubles away
I'll send my troubles away
I'll send my troubles away
Wasn't the future gonna bring you peace
All those things you'd do some day to bring perfection and release
But self-made laws and tomorrows seem to blend
Why can't you call courage your friend
I hear the honking of the high-flying geese
I hear those high-flying geese
I'll send my troubles away
I'll send my troubles away
I'll send my troubles away
The lyrics to Old Man Luedecke's song Send My Troubles Away contain themes of reflection, hope, and letting go of troubles. The first verse describes the singer's surroundings, with leaves clattering along the ground and the night being described as "splendid grown". The hopeful beginnings are contrasted with a "fiery end", suggesting that something positive may have turned negative. The repetition of the question "Will you ever know the good in you's been found" suggests that the singer is clinging to hope that their inner goodness will eventually be recognized.
The second verse seems to address an unnamed person who may have been struggling in the city "all alone" with a "bursting heart". The singer reflects on their own life and wonders if they will ever experience another night like this one. The repetition of the line "This autumn may just drown me in my home" reinforces the idea that the singer is feeling overwhelmed and possibly trapped.
The third verse explores the concept of the future bringing peace and perfection, but the reality of self-made laws and the blending of tomorrows. The refrain "I'll send my troubles away" is repeated throughout the song, suggesting that the singer is trying to let go of their worries and find a sense of peace or release.
Overall, the lyrics to Send My Troubles Away seem to be about finding hope and comfort in the midst of uncertainty and struggle. The singer is reflecting on their own struggles and questioning whether they will ever find recognition for their inner goodness, but ultimately trying to let go of their troubles and find a sense of peace.
