Tuve que dejarlo lejos
Siempre tengo que escaparme
Y abandonar lo que quiero
Yo soy el buque fantasma
Que no puede anclar en puerto
Ando buscando refugios
En cartas apolilladas
Y en perfumados recuerdos
Por más que estire las manos
Nunca te alcanzo, lucero
Jugo de amargos adioses
Es mi vaso predilecto
Yo me bebo a tragos largos
Mi pócima de recuerdos
Y me embriago en lejanías
Para acariciar mis sueños
Y me embriago en lejanías
Para acariciar mis sueños
Nadie sabe como yo
Lenguaje de los pañuelos
Agitándose en los muelles
Sacudiendo el aire trémulo
Nadie como yo nació
Con destino marinero
La única flor que conozco
Es la rosa de los vientos
La única flor que conozco
Es la rosa de los vientos
Por más que estire las manos
Nunca te alcanzo, lucero
Jugo de amargos adioses
Es mi vaso predilecto
Yo me bebo a tragos largos
Mi pócima de recuerdos
Y me embriago en lejanías
Para acariciar mis sueños
Y me embriago en lejanías
Para acariciar mis sueños
The song "Romance de Mi Destino" is a lament that expresses a deep sense of longing and unrequited love. The lyrics describe the singer's endless search for something that always seems just out of reach - a feeling, a person, or a place that they can never quite capture or hold onto. The singer feels like a "ghost ship" that can never anchor in port because they are constantly on the move, always searching for something that they cannot find. They turn to old photographs, letters, and memories for comfort and solace, seeking refuge in a world of nostalgia and fantasy.
The images in the song are rich and evocative, drawing on maritime imagery and symbols to convey a sense of longing, isolation, and loss. The singer is compared to a sailor who is adrift in a sea of memories, seeking the ephemeral "language of handkerchiefs" that can signal love and connection across great distances. The only flower that they know is the "rose of the winds," a symbol of a life driven by the forces of fate and destiny.
