Porque soy humilde
Porque nada valgo
Porque nada tengo
Porque mis pasiones
Son menos que el polvo
Que inconscientemente
Porque mis pasiones
Son menos que el polvo
Que inconscientemente
A cada rato vuela
Humilde es el dulce
Jesús nazareno
Cubierto de llagas
De fe y de tristezas
Humilde se esconde
Por entre las zarzas
La débil violeta
Humilde es el agua
Que baja cantando
De las altas peñas
Y tú la soberbia
Luces la violeta
Y bebes el agua
Y a Jesús le rezas
Dizque no me quieres
Porque soy humilde
Porque nada valgo
Porque nada tengo
Humilde es el dulce
Jesús nazareno
Cubierto de llagas
De fe y de tristezas
Humilde se esconde
Por entre las zarzas
La débil violeta
Humilde es el agua
Que baja cantando
De las altas peñas
Y tú la soberbia
Luces la violeta
Y bebes el agua
Y a Jesús le rezas
Dizque no me quieres
Porque soy humilde
Porque nada valgo
Porque nada tengo
In these lyrics, Olimpo Cardenas is expressing his frustration towards someone who doesn't love him because he is humble and has nothing. He lists his passions, which he considers to be less than the dust that flies away unconsciously, implying that he is underestimated and overlooked because he is poor and ordinary. The singer compares himself to Jesus, who is humble and endured many hardships, to show that being modest is a virtue. He also compares himself to a violet that grows in the bushes, which is fragile but has its unique beauty, and water that sings while flowing from the tall rocks, which is simple but essential to survive. However, the person he is directing these lyrics towards is arrogant, as they wear the violet, drink the water, but also pray to Jesus - indicating hypocrisy. In essence, the singer is saying that humility is a valuable characteristic that they appreciate, and they should also find it worthwhile instead of being arrogant.
