Ausentas de mi lado y estoy por perder toda la calma
Que he tenido cuanto te he esperado
Vienes pa sufrir algo en la vida pero no por eso es hasta enfermarse
Ya no puedo mas
No puedo sufrir, con las penas me voy a morir (bis)
Quisiera yo a tu lado estar
Tu frente con la mía juntar
Tu bello cuerpo de angel contemplar
Tus manos de asusena acariciar
Tus labios virginales besar y luego
Hasta que muera poderte besar (bis).
In Olimpo Cardenas's song Sonia, the singer expresses a deep sense of sadness and despair due to the absence of his lover from his side. He is on the brink of losing his calmness after waiting for so long for her to come back to him. The lyrics convey a sense of helplessness in the face of the pain he is experiencing.
Despite the suffering that his lover has caused him, he still wants to be with her. He imagines holding her close, his forehead touching hers, gazing into her starry eyes, and admiring her beautiful angelic body. He wants to caress her hands, kiss her virginal lips, and never stop kissing her until he dies. This romantic longing expressed in the song speaks to the power of love and the intensity of emotions it can generate.
Overall, “Sonia” is a poignant love song that captures the agony of separation and the desire for proximity that comes with being in love.
