His 2013 song, "Gecko", caught the attention of fellow Dutch DJ Tiësto, who signed him to his label, Musical Freedom, and released the track with vocals from British singer Becky Hill on June 23, 2014. Heldens also has a weekly podcast titled Heldeep Radio, which has been ongoing for over 2 years.
In 2015, he began producing bass house songs under the alias HI-LO, which comes from 'Oli H' in reversed form. Under his alias, Heldens produced three singles titled "Crank It Up", "Renegade Mastah" and "Wappy Flirt", releasing the latter two on his label Heldeep Records.
Summer Lover

Summer lover, don't go away
Distant thunder calling your name
Summer lover, why don't you stay?
Me and the leaves are falling
We're over way too soon
My body's not forgotten
We're feeling like September
We're fading fast
Maybe we just were never
Built to last (woo)
Summer lover, why don't you stay?
Summer lover, don't go away
Distant thunder calling your name
Summer lover
Why don't you stay?
Don't go away
Why don't you stay?
Don't go away
You and the winds are changing
I'm trying to hold on
Don't think I'll still be waiting
For you all winter long
We're feeling like September
We're fading fast
Maybe we just were never
Built to last (Woo)
Summer lover, why don't you stay?
Summer lover, don't go away
Distant thunder calling your name
Summer lover, why won't you stay?
Summer lover, why don't you stay?
Summer lover, don't go away
Distant thunder calling your name
Summer lover, why won't you stay? (Woo)
Don't go away
Why don't you stay?
Don't go away (lover)
Why don't you stay?
(Me and the leaves are falling)
Don't go away
(We're over way too soon)
Why don't you stay?
(My body's not forgotten)
Don't go away
(All of these nights with you)
Why don't you stay? (Woo)
The lyrics to Oliver Heldens's "Summer Lover" convey a sense of longing and nostalgia as the singer lament the end of a summer romance. The opening lines, "Summer lover, why don't you stay? Summer lover, don't go away," express a desire for the relationship to continue, even as the season comes to a close. This is reinforced later in the song when the singer pleads, "Summer lover, why won't you stay?"
The second verse reveals the singer's reluctance to let go of the relationship, even though they sense that it may be coming to an end: "You and the winds are changing, I'm trying to hold on. Don't think I'll still be waiting for you all winter long." Despite this, the singer acknowledges that the relationship may not have been built to last, and that they are "fading fast" like the summer season itself.
The chorus is the most prominent part of the song, with its catchy melody and repeating lyrics. The use of the phrase "distant thunder calling your name" adds a dramatic element that suggests the end of the relationship is as inevitable as the changing of the seasons. Overall, "Summer Lover" is a bittersweet ode to a fleeting romance that captures the wistful feeling of summer coming to an end.
