John Oliver is just plain great. I like his new show, even if his first episode spent the first ten minutes shitting on my state of Oregon. I only wish it were on more than once a week.

I am actually glad that it is not on more frequently. One of the things that I love the most about the show is that it is so very well researched. Could they cover more topics with more episodes... yes, but I do not think that they could cover them nearly as well. There is an integrity to the current show that I would hate to see lost to the grinding wheels of mass production.

So, what's your take now?

Eh, don't fix what isn't broken, I say. John's on to a winner with his formula here and I hope his show keeps going. When he eventually retires from it, I hope he gets to choose whether to end the show or hand it to another comedian to take over (as the Daily Show does), but for now, I can't think of a better way to do it than what he does now.
