1. Omar is a UK soul artist of Chinese, African and Indo-Jamaican descent. Born Omar Lye-Fook (1969) in Canterbury England, Omar has been making albums since the early 1990s and his work is often compared to Stevie Wonder’s work of the 1970s. After the lukewarm US sales for the LP “For Pleasure,” subsequent Omar releases were only available as pricey imports. 2. Omar Akram is the son of a United Nations diplomat, Omar Akram spent many of his early years traveling the world, soaking up the musical traditions of such exotic locales as Afghanistan, Cuba, France, and the Czech Republic.
By the age of 14, he was considered a piano prodigy. In his late teens, he discovered the boundary-pushing sounds of Jean Michel Jarre (France), Kitaro (Japan), and Vangelis (Greece), and began to absorb their independent musical influences. At the same time, Omar Akram remained intrigued by such classical composers as Bach and Mozart, and used much of their thematic coherence, comprehensible structure, and clear rhythmic control to craft his own original compositions.

Need You Bad
Omar Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
Nod your head forward, backwards and sideways
Stand up
Now put your mama loving hands up
We out to run the Lamb demand up, YAH
Stand up, YAH
Come on, come on
You pledge allegiance to handcuffs?
Damn, bruh, can't just get on the mic and shit talk
Go ahead and wipe your lip off
Remember where we left off?
Whole hemisphere getting ripped off
Ten thousand leagues above the ground, surround sound, lift off
I've been to myself, exclusive
Front row seats to the movie
Most scenes I seem reclusive, when I dream it's usually lucid
Stages in arenas, how dare I just kick my feet up?
We lit if you haven't seen us
Flagship of the genius genus
Gee, Cornelius, love is all you needed
This summer weather is undefeated
We need you to keep it heated, the streets is feigning
Bring that feeling that we never had back
Gotta get back to brass tacks
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
Just a vessel for the truth, for the youth
Pudding's in the proof
We done blew the roof
As we proceed to give you what you need
It's already paid for, united we slave for it
Don't leave here wishing that you gave more
Give up what you crave for
Don't miss the wave, boy (don't miss the wave, boy)
When the prodigal returns, he's unstoppable
It's power in the hair, type of flower that only YAH can grow
For cataracts, panic attacks
Where you lack, let's unpack for the weekend
You can depend on me
Ain't gotta keep in them thoughts you thinking
Feeling like you sinking
Heavy head blinking
Yeah, that's how I began
YAH, show me how to glow on every plane
The average human attitude to talk like this is that'll do
Are you a free man, or in debt for three grand?
Triple that
Work for a dime to get a nickel back, I'm sick about it
They tell me not to climb the mountain, I can't get around it
I wanna lift you up
Everybody can't keep you grounded
No, I can't save the whole day
But lend me power for the hour I ain't gotta role play, no way
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away from the world when the world needs you
Please don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
Don't run away
In the song "Need You Bad" by Omar, the lyrics convey a powerful message about the importance of not escaping or avoiding the issues and responsibilities of the world. The repetition of the plea "please don't run away from the world when the world needs you" emphasizes the urgency and necessity for individuals to stay engaged and make a positive impact. The line "nod your head forward, backwards and sideways, stand up, now put your mama loving hands up" encourages listeners to be active, expressive, and supportive of one another.
The lyrics also touch upon the idea of personal growth and self-reflection. The artist acknowledges his own introspection, describing himself as being "to myself, exclusive" and having vivid dreams. However, despite his solitary tendencies, he recognizes the importance of making a collective effort to bring positive change to the world. The line "bring that feeling that we never had back, gotta get back to brass tacks" suggests a longing to restore a sense of unity and purpose.
Throughout the song, there is a sense of empowerment and determination. The artist encourages listeners to be vessels of truth for the youth and to not settle for mediocrity. The line "when the prodigal returns, he's unstoppable" suggests a reclamation of power and the ability to overcome any obstacles. Overall, "Need You Bad" serves as a call to action for individuals to actively participate in creating a better world.

This CD is one of my prized possessions. America wasn't ready for his timeless classic Acid Jazz Funk. He was waaaay ahead of his time back in the early 90's. It's 2020 and this is still bumpin outta my sound system.
