2. Omnia is an electronic dance music producer, his track Stick in monday was featured in the Trance Mix Mission Podcast.
Man behind it all, is Evgeny Smirnov. Born in 1987, he would grow up with a diverse taste in music, loving and exploring the beauty of different genres. In the 90’s, he turned his passion for EDM into a hobby and started toying around with producing programs. After discovering trance music, Evgeny knew which path to follow and started developing his sound into this direction.
At the end of 2006, when Evgeny was only 20 years old, he concentrated on creating his own, quality tracks and saw big names like Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz and Above & Beyond play his tracks and remixes on the radio and during gigs. Remixes on ‘Ørjan Nilsen – La Guitarra’ and ‘Armin van Buuren feat. Jacqueline Govaert – Never Say Never’ put Omnia’s name on the map.
SHAMANIAC
Omnia Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Root and branch carved into our skin
We sing the primal scream
We bang the spirit drum
We eat the flesh of gods
We drink the blood of life
We howl the moon to rise
Pregnant with life, we are the dead
Hear us roar…
The lyrics of Omnia's song SHAMANIAC are rich with symbolism and imagery that allude to shamanistic practices and beliefs. The opening line, "We wear the cloak of feather and bone," suggests that the singer is donning the regalia of a shaman, which typically includes feathers, bones, and other natural materials. The next line, "Root and branch carved into our skin," could be interpreted as either a metaphorical or literal reference to shamanistic tattoos, which often depict natural imagery like trees and roots.
The subsequent lines describe various shamanistic practices, such as singing the "primal scream" and banging the "spirit drum," both of which are used in shamanic rituals around the world. The line "We eat the flesh of gods, we drink the blood of life" also alludes to shamanistic beliefs that consuming certain plants and animals can provide spiritual insight and power.
The final lines of the chorus, "Pregnant with life, we are the dead, we are shaman, hear us roar," suggest that the singer is embodying the transformative power of shamanic practices, which can allow the practitioner to connect with the spirit realm and access new levels of consciousness.
