2. Omnia is an electronic dance music producer, his track Stick in monday was featured in the Trance Mix Mission Podcast.
Man behind it all, is Evgeny Smirnov. Born in 1987, he would grow up with a diverse taste in music, loving and exploring the beauty of different genres. In the 90’s, he turned his passion for EDM into a hobby and started toying around with producing programs. After discovering trance music, Evgeny knew which path to follow and started developing his sound into this direction.
At the end of 2006, when Evgeny was only 20 years old, he concentrated on creating his own, quality tracks and saw big names like Armin van Buuren, Markus Schulz and Above & Beyond play his tracks and remixes on the radio and during gigs. Remixes on ‘Ørjan Nilsen – La Guitarra’ and ‘Armin van Buuren feat. Jacqueline Govaert – Never Say Never’ put Omnia’s name on the map.
Toyz in the Attic
Omnia Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Toys in the attic are
Calling from the rafters
Ghost of a sigh
Pretty painted faces
Ride on the rocking horse
Memories of shadow
Dreams never die
I could fly if I wanted to
I could reach for the sky
We can swim like the dolphins and...
We can laugh′ till we cry
But there's nothing to say
Dolls made of clay
We can play all day
Toys in the attic...
Sneaking up the staircase
Toys in the attic are
Waiting for me
Eyes in the dark
Looking for my marbles
Bats in the belfry and
I hear music start to play
This will be my happy home
And I′ll never be alone
We will swim beneath the trees
All my happy friends and me
Hush baby, don't you cry
Cheer up and dry your eyes
Come join the happy games
Toys in the attic...
Frolicking in frenzy
Toys in the attic are
Dancing crazy
Whirling around
Spinning through the cobwebs
Bone and lace twirl in time
As the clock dissects the rhyme
And I could fly if I wanted to
I could reach for the sky
We can swim like the dolphins and
We can laugh' till we cry
But there′s nothing to say
Hush baby, don′t you cry
Dolls made of clay
Cheer up and dry your eyes
We can play all day
Come join the happy games
Toys in the attic...
Hush baby, don't you cry
Cheer up and dry your eyes
Come join the happy games
Toys in the attic...
Toys in the attic...
The lyrics in Omnia's song "Toys in the Attic" describe the playful spirit and imaginative wonder of childhood. The opening lines depict the remnants of childhood lingering in an abandoned attic, where the ghosts of toys and memories beckon to the singer. The rocking horse and dolls made of clay evoke a sense of nostalgia, harkening back to a time when life was simpler and more carefree. However, the singer's imagination is still alive and well, as they declare that they could "fly if [they] wanted to" and "reach for the sky."
The second verse continues the theme of childhood wonder, as the singer sneaks up the attic stairs to reunite with their old toys. The toys' eyes in the dark and bats in the belfry create a spooky but playful atmosphere, reminiscent of a child's fascination with ghosts and monsters. The singer's happy home in the attic is a metaphor for the safe and carefree space of childhood, where they are never truly alone and can enjoy the company of their "happy friends."
The final verse portrays the frenzied joy of playtime, as the toys come alive and twirl around the cobwebs to the rhythm of the clock. The chorus repeats the comforting refrain "hush baby, don't you cry," as if to reassure the listener that even as they grow older, the memories and spirit of childhood can still be accessed through imagination and playfulness.
