Catch-22
P!nk Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I was too deep, I can't let you go and just jump in
At times I would push my feelings aside to let you feel
I'm Novocaine I'm numb and nothing's real
Like the coldest winter, I am frozen from you
[Chorus]
I can't feel much for you anymore
I gave you my all, my baby
I'm numb, numb, numb
But the tears were silent inside you see
But the tears were silent inside you see
I laid there quiet, watched you have your way
with me
I might have cried, the tears were silent inside
you see
You called me names, made me feel like I was dumb
I didn't feel a thing and now I'm gone, gone,
gone
Like a battered child I got used to your pain
But you know its 'cause
[Chorus: x2]
Don't feel a thing, don't feel the pain
Numb, numb, numb
Said
[Chorus]
I was weak for
Said now I'm numb, numb, numb
No, no, no, no
In this song, P!nk talks about a toxic relationship she was in with her ex-boyfriend. She reflects on the emotional and physical toll the relationship took on her. She talks about how her ex-boyfriend made her feel numb and how she couldn't feel anything anymore. The lyrics "no sleep, no sex for you from your ex-girlfriend" indicate that the relationship had ended and P!nk was no longer interested in being intimate with him. She also mentions that at times she would push her feelings aside just to make him feel better.
The chorus "I was weak before now you made me so numb, I can't feel much for you anymore, I gave you my all, my baby, I'm numb, numb, numb" emphasizes how the relationship affected her and how she couldn't feel any emotion towards him anymore. She compares her emotionless state to the coldest winter, where everything is frozen and lifeless. The line "like a battered child I got used to your pain" shows how she had become accustomed to the physical and emotional abuse.
