Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I got something that will sure 'nuff set your stuff on fire
You refuse to put anything before your pride
I got something that will knock all your pride aside
Tell me something good (tell me, tell me, tell me)
Tell me that you love me
Tell me something good (tell me, tell me, tell me)
Got no time is what you're known to say
I'll make you wish there were 48 hours to each day
Problem is you ain't been loved like you should
What i got to give will sure 'nuff do you good
Tell me something good (tell me, tell me, tell me)
Tell me that you love me
Tell me something good (tell me, tell me, tell me)
Tell me that you like it, yeah
P!nk's "Tell Me Something Good" is a song about a person who is devoid of emotion and refuses to prioritize love over their pride. The first verse suggests that the person in question is devoid of emotions when the lyrics say, "You ain't got no kind of feeling inside." This could mean that they have become apathetic or numb to their emotions. However, the chorus of the song suggests that love could be the solution to this problem. P!nk urges the person to tell her something good to show how much they love her, and also requests that they tell her they "like it."
The second verse delves deeper into the person's lack of emotions. They are always saying they "got no time" and "ain't been loved like [they] should." P!nk essentially tells this person that what she's got to offer will "sure 'nuff do [them] good," implying that love will fill the emotional void in their life. Ultimately, the song is about the transformative power of love and the benefits it can have on a person’s outlook on life.
Overall, "Tell Me Something Good" is a fun, upbeat song with a message about love that anyone can relate to. P!nk’s vocals are strong and her delivery confident, which adds an extra punch to the lyrics. The song reminds us that we all need love and emotional support in our lives to truly thrive.
