Peishan Dufrane
Tu rayonnais comme un ciel éclairé par l'aurore;

Tus ojos eran más tiernos; tu voz, pura y sonora;
para escaparme contigo hacia la luz;
los cielos para nosotros entreabrían sus nubes,
esplendores desconocidos, fulgores divinos entrevistos.
¡Ay! ¡Ay, triste despertar de los sueños!
Yo te llamo, oh noche, devuélveme tus mentiras.
Vuelve, vuelve radiante,
vuelve, ¡oh noche misteriosa!
Joel Sattler
APRÈS UN RÊVE by GABRIEL FAURÉ, new translation by Joel Sattler
New Title: “After the Dream is Gone”
[this is not an exact translation, but can be called a new interpretation,
meant to be sung to the original melody]
I was asleep
and saw your apparition
In my dreams happy dreams
I thought you came home
And you were happy too
With a voice pure and soaring
You were shining
Like a dawn all lit up by the morning
You called to me
To go with you forever
To the sky we’d be free
And fly together
Then the sky opened up
Opened as if holy
Splendors iridescent and lonely
And then we knew they were meant for us only
Alas alas
When I awoke from my slumber
I did call
O night take me back to my wonder
Come back come back
Radioso
Come back
O night Mysterioso…
A Marteville
Belle version en ut mineur !
- 2 petit regrets, cependant :

I don't think I'll ever be able to hear another version of this song; her interpretation is just heartbreaking. She inhabits the song so much, you feel the grief of it in your bones. The translation is perfect.

Love&Music
I agree. I never listened to anyone else singing this song, cuz Miss Gens is just perfect here.
Molly Young
60Singing try listening to Renee Fleming.
Tavussatwaossi
@Molly Young She is excellent too, except for the diction (which is especially difficult in this poem for not french-speaking singers)

L'accompagnement (l'accompagnateur) joue ici un rôle essentiel. Véronique Gens est littéralement portée, soulevée... Bravo.

E. Silva
Just wonderful. She sings with such commitment and a perfect understanding of this little jewel. Sublime.
