1. Sweden’s Pain is an industrial metal band. The band started out as a hobby project for Hypocrisy front man Peter Tägtgren, whose idea was to fuse metal with electronic influences. Tägtgren is the only official member. Pain’s self titled debut was released in 1996, and since, Pain has released 8 albums and 2 DVDs
“MUSIC IS everything to me. I’ve been through two divorces and a whole world of shit because of music but still it is the most important thing in the world to me. I’d rather have music than anything else.”
So speaks 36-year-old Peter Tägtgren, musician, producer and creative brain behind Pain. His has been a life immersed in music, in pushing boundaries, and taking ideas to both their logical and illogical extremes. It’s been a career that has involved fronting bands – notably Hypocrisy, and now Pain – or shaping their sounds – as he has done with Celtic Frost, Children Of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir and Immortal, among others. It’s a calling that has made him one of Sweden’s most respected musicians and producers. But, with Pain’s new album ‘Psalms Of Extinction’, he now wants to take things one step further. Now, in his own words, he’s ready to make his band Pain, “the biggest fucking band in the genre. I want this to be huge on a worldwide scale.”
TÄGTGREN’S CAREER began in Hypocrisy, the atmospheric death metal band that he created, fronted and led. “But, in 1996,” Tägtgren says, “I realised I wanted to write some more heavy metal based music. I didn’t want to change Hypocrisy because I didn’t think that band had finished developing in its own genre. I really wanted to allow that to happen but I also wanted to experiment with other sounds. That’s why I set up Pain.”

2. Forming in 1994, the punk rock band is a musical ensemble comprised of seven members that originated in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Their song "Jabberjaw" was commissioned for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim as a short music video placed into the ad rotation.
Pain's sound is sometimes confused with ska/ska-punk, due to similarities in instrumentation and similar sensibilities to third-wave ska-punk bands, but it cannot be accurately described as ska since it does not utilize the ska beat. The band includes a trumpet, trombone, and saxophone, which are often found in ska bands, but the band members have stated numerous times that they are not a ska band -- in fact they have claimed that they do not like the ska genre. The band is perhaps best defined by their fast-paced lyrics and clever rhythm schemes, both instrumental and spoken. Pain's lyrics are often humorous, touching lightly upon such subjects as Dungeons and Dragons as well as Greek and Arthurian legends, often creating entire plots and stories about fictional characters.
Many of their songs are nostalgic and humorous, while others have philosophic undertones. Despite these subtleties, they maintain a frenzied, bouncy sound and an ironic sense of humor which sets them apart from the mainstream scene.
In mid-2009, the band released the DVD retrospective "In a Band," chronicling the band's 7-year career with over 5 hours of video, audio, and photo content.

It's not there for a target, go shoot at somebody else.
It fell from the treetops
And now he know just what it's like to fall down.
Now he's a genius, a genius.
And now he's food for a flock of birds
And a bed of ants but he'll take his chance
And he'll keep the faith.
Right down to his apple core.
Though his bag's getting empty he's already won.
Planted dreams are behind him growing in the sun.
Look even closer, watch as he sings and he drinks.
See Adam's apple, see how it rises and sinks.
That's how his luck goes
But just give him a note and he'll make a chord
And every so often a whole song.
And now he's food for a flock of birds
And a bed of ants but he'll take his chance
And he'll keep the faith.
He reminds me of Johnny Appleseed
Right down to his apple core.
Though his bag's getting empty he's already won.
Planted dreams are behind him growing in the sun.
Keep the faith and walk don't crawl though.
Cynics never care at all (strings may break and hopes may fall)(repeat)
And now he's food for a flock of birds
And a bed of ants but he'll take his chance
And he'll keep the faith.
He reminds me of Johnny Appleseed Right down to his apple core.
Though his bag's getting empty he's already won.
Planted dreams are behind him growing in the sun.
Though his bag's getting empty he's already won.
The song "Adam's Apple" by the band Pain is a reflective piece that touches on themes of perseverance and finding hope amidst life's challenges. The lyrics compare the titular Adam to Johnny Appleseed, a legendary figure known for planting apple trees across the Midwest. The first verse describes Adam's apple as sitting atop his head, but notes that it's not there for a target - implying that Adam faces adversity but refuses to be a victim. The metaphorical apple's fall from the treetops is depicted as a turning point in Adam's life; he's become a "genius," but also a source of nourishment for birds and ants. The chorus repeats the phrase "and he'll keep the faith," emphasizing the importance of maintaining hope in the face of adversity.
The second verse builds on the Johnny Appleseed comparison, noting that Adam's "bag's getting empty" but that he's already won. This might refer to the idea that Adam has accomplished a lot and has seen his dreams come to fruition, but now must carve out a new path for himself. The song suggests that Adam is able to find joy in singing and drinking, and that his metaphorical rise and fall (seen in the motion of his Adam's apple) is part of his story.

[Chorus: Hosier]
They want me in the shade, they hate to see me shine
They want me in the pourin' rain
They'd rather see me cry, than make it in my life
The Lord knows they love a man in pain (Come on)
They want me in the shade, they hate to see me shine
They want me in the pourin' rain
They'd rather see me cry, than make it in my life
The Lord knows they love a man in pain
[Verse 1: Adam Calhoun]
How you wanna hate on me
Please don't play with me
Why you messin' with my life?
My life been rough as a dirt road
Y'all know how that go
And you ain't gonna want no fight
No fight from a coward they just run they mouth
They mouth gonna get 'em knocked out
Knocked out and I ain't tryin' get locked up
'Cause I fucked up once and I already took that route
So now here we go, rock-n-roll
Mixed up with a little bit of 2Pac soul
You a fox in a hole, scared I'm gonna bury you a bitch on the low
Fear no man but the Lord
When it rains it pours, snakes get exposed
Line 'em all up in a row, watch 'em all fold
I will never go, you can not move me
This is real life not a movie
When I come for you, you're gonna have to shoot me
Actually kill me, ask yourself, you don't actually feel me
Actually fuck that
Go play in traffic where the cars and trucks at
Don't ask me where the fuck the bus at
My trucks right there I don't need no bus pass
Jump in that bitch and get lost
Roll down my sub and lower my thoughts
[Chorus: Hosier]
They want me in the shade, they hate to see me shine
They want me in the pourin' rain
They'd rather see me cry, than make it in my life
The Lord knows they love a man in pain (Come on)
They want me in the shade, they hate to see me shine
They want me in the pourin' rain
They'd rather see me cry, than make it in my life
The Lord knows they love a man in pain
[Verse 2: Hosier]
Every time I turn around feelin' like I'm steadily
Gettin' weight up on my shoulders
Clouds always cover my head when the sun's it's best
So shade on the far side
I'm a big bad wolf, gonna blow this whole thing down
When I go and get my wind
And when I pull up in that Mossy Oak Benz sittin' high
Actin' like 2Pac in above the rim, damn
Gettin' judged by my past 'cause I'm famous
Gettin' cash, for my haters hate to see my shinin'
No overcast on my rhymes
Have you shook like you read somethin' out the good Lord's book
I'm the real bad motherfucker
I'ma keep it 100 run up on me I'ma dub you in the backwoods
After the fact, the aftermath supposed to be, record kickin' ass and their fingers crossin' my path
Took a little rebel mixed it with some soul and some southern country rock and the outcome was crack
Got 'em all goin' crazy, truly amazin'
Got 'em all bobbin' heads while I'm movin' my chops
Rain on my parade if you want to
'Cause 'round here the forecast of shine don't stop
It can be a cloudy day but my sun still gon' shine
'Cause I'ma be a legend son
[Chorus: Hosier]
They want me in the shade, they hate to see me shine
They want me in the pourin' rain
They'd rather see me cry, than make it in my life
The Lord knows they love a man in pain (Come on)
They want me in the shade, they hate to see me shine
They want me in the pourin' rain
They'd rather see me cry, than make it in my life
The Lord knows they love a man in pain
