I Saw the End
Pallbearer Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
From the beginning
Oceans of blood
The price of living
Grasping gold
Always pursuing
Wealth untold
Others abusing
I saw the end
Of all tomorrows
From a place
Where the pigs wallow
Filth that runs
From mouths so overfed
The joys of life
On mountains of the dead
Blacken the sky
Can't stand to see the sun
The truth of light
Reveals the hatred that has won
The hearts of man
Corrupt and bleeding rage
Can't understand
We're sick and dying race
If we're to survive
This must not remain
The end of lies
Could be dawn of day
Take heed of the wise
All your hate disown
Can't look to the skies
Fate is ours alone
When all your fear dies
Life becomes your own
To silence your cries
Learn the truth that must be known
The lyrics of Pallbearer's song "I Saw the End" are a powerful commentary on the human condition and our self-destructive tendencies. The opening lines, "We crawled from the beginning, oceans of blood, the price of living," set the tone for the rest of the song. The imagery of crawling from the beginning suggests that humanity has been struggling since its inception, and the oceans of blood represent the violence and suffering that have accompanied our journey.
The lyrics go on to describe how we have become fixated on wealth and power, even at the expense of others. The line "grasping gold, always pursuing, wealth untold, others abusing" suggests that our pursuit of wealth and power has come at a great cost to those around us. We have become so focused on our own success that we are willing to harm others to achieve it.
The chorus, "I saw the end of all tomorrows, from a place where the pigs wallow," suggests that our self-destructive tendencies have brought us to the brink of destruction. We have become so consumed by our own desires that we are unable to see the consequences of our actions. The line "filth that runs from mouths so overfed" is particularly striking, suggesting that our excesses and indulgences have made us unable to see clearly.
The following part of the lyrics talks about how the sky is blackened, and the sun can no longer be seen. The reason behind this is that we tend to ignore the reality of things, running away from the harsh truth about our actions. In this chaos, we become corrupt and hateful, with bleeding rage. The last verse of the song gives us hope and tells us that we are the masters of our own fate. If we learn the truth, disown hate, and look to the skies, we can shape our destiny.

Why am I only just this second discovering this incredible band? It's like if Mastodon and Iron Maiden had a baby that looked a little bit like Mammoth Weed Wizzard Bastard and I love it

MasteroChieftan
Nobody else is producing content this clean and well composed. This sounds like music made in a time where the artists actually had to have the talent and couldn't just feed it through a computer to sound good.
