Evolution
Paloma Faith Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
There's wonder in your child's eyes, or maybe your future child's eyes
And many things you may remember that you had
That you lost, that you let slip through your fingers
So cherish them all
You are the poor, the refugee, the bloody victim
You are the power, the winner and the fighter
Be the beauty, the memory, the past, the past, the present and the future, be infinite
Do something, say something, believe in something
But most of all, know you can change things
Yes, you
What are you waiting for?
Do not be fearful of evolution
The time is now
Paloma Faith's song "Evolution" is a thought-provoking masterpiece that urges the listener to reflect on their life experiences and embrace change. In the opening lyrics, she compares the beauty of a weeping man's distant sound to the wonder of a child's eyes, stating that both evoke profound emotions. She then encourages the listener to cherish their memories, including those lost or let slip through their fingers. The lyrics are a reminder that life is fleeting, and it is essential to value and appreciate the moments we have.
The song then takes a turn, as Faith urges the listener to embrace their identity as both the poor refugee and the powerful winner, stating that they have the power to make a difference. She notes that life is both the past and the present, and it is infinite. The song ends with a call to action, urging the listener to do something, say something, and believe in something, but most importantly, to know that they can change things. She implores the listener not to be fearful of evolution and to recognize that the time for change is now.
Overall, "Evolution" is a powerful anthem urging the listener to embrace change and take control of their lives. It encourages them to recognize their power to make a difference in the world and to use it positively.
