The band's second album, Night Sketches, was considered darker and more electric. It was made in collaboration with and produced by Adrien Durand, head of Bon Voyage Organisation (BVO). "Unlike our first album, which contained miscellaneous songs written years ago and without any knowledge of either production or arrangements, we 'mentalized' this new album. We wanted to bridge the gap between the seventies and the eighties, by bringing in even more groove." The album has elements of vintage pop (Steely Dan) and synth-pop. Durand stated that the band's "strength lies in the songwriting".
The album was also contributed to by musicians of the young French music scene, including drummer Wendy Killman, bass player Maxime Daoud (Forever Pavot, Ojard), and saxophonist Julien Cavard (Amadou & Mariam). The album was mixed by Italian Andrea Suriani (Cosmo, Calcutta, Giorgio Poi) and is a mix of classical and modern pop. It includes the first single "You and I", the ballade "About Felix", inspired by the loss of a friend, a saxophone-driven song titled "Let the Morning Come Again", a soft rock tune ("Danger to Myself"), as well as a ska song ("Undecided").
Papooz have a talent for sway pop and irrefutable groove like very few of their compatriots, aside from Phoenix and Tahiti 80 we cannot think of anyone else. Tropical pop here, wild bossa nova there, all of it deeply anchored in the American style of the Seventies, Ulysse and Armand are perfectly matched. Falsely dabbler and completely inspired, the duo fights the ambient gloom with their songs.
The Garden
Papooz Lyrics

Sittin' in the garden with my girlfriend, ooh
Wasting hours, flowers
Fading in slow motion, ooh
Well I'm just
Sittin' in the garden with my girlfriend, ooh
Laying on Afghan carpets
And we love each other
Oh, we love each other
No matter the weather, yee-hee
Oh, we love each other
If I could stay
Lost in these moments forever, ooh
I'd surrender all things
I thought I treasured, ooh
Well I'm just
Layin' in the garden with my girlfriend, ooh
Watching airplanes fly, fly, fly
And we love each other
Oh, we love each other
No matter the weather, yee-hee
Oh, we love each other
(Take it away, Charlie)
And we love each other
Oh, we love each other
No matter the weather, yee-hee
Oh, we love each other
The lyrics to Papooz's song "The Garden" are simple but powerful. The song describes the singer and his girlfriend spending time together in a beautiful garden, surrounded by nature and disconnected from the outside world. The chorus repeats the phrase "Oh, we love each other" and celebrates the couple's love, despite any challenges they may face.
The first verse paints a picture of the couple wasting time in the garden, with the flowers fading in slow motion. The second verse describes them lying on Afghan carpets under a palm tree and watching airplanes fly by. The bridge of the song expresses the singer's desire to stay in this moment forever and his willingness to surrender everything else in his life.
The overall message of the song is one of love and escapism. The couple is able to disconnect from the pressures of the world and focus on each other in a peaceful, idyllic setting. The simplicity of the lyrics and melody emphasizes the beauty of the moment the couple is experiencing together.

This is such an enchanting, understated, seductive, complex, and chaotic song. It gets better with every listen. there are so many clashing musical and aesthetic atmospheres found in this short but eternal song
