At the end of 1994 Martin had written enough songs to record the first “official” release “WORLD OF SIN”. Today Paragon is one of the leading bands within German metal.

Cousin of the Swedish singer Agnes Carlsson.

In 1992, Paragon recorded their first demo tape and played first live shows. The repertoire was crossover progressive/heavy rock. In 1993 the band was joined by singer Freek Paardenkooper and switched to a lighter style of Rock with some Grunge influences. In 1995 Drummer Koos de Wit joined and Paragon released an EP with 5 tracks. These were re-recorded for the 1997 “BALANCE THE SCALES” CD, which received good reviews in the Dutch press. Paragon toured the Dutch small-club circuit extensively until early 1998, after which the band disbanded.
Back From Hell
Paragon Lyrics

Feel the wind in my hair
Return
Free from despair
Free my mind Breathe again
Feel the rain on my face
Taste the blood Beat the pain
This is the end of the chase
I have seen the underworld
More than I could bare
Branded by the purgatory
In the devil's lair
Back from hell
In the end I'm free again
Back from hell
And the visions will remain
Back from hell
The past and the present
Merging in my memories
Forever
I'm cursed by the legacy
Here I am to carry on
Though I will never go back
To the trails of terror the halls of horror
Hidden below in the black
The lyrics to Paragon's song "Back From Hell" convey a message of hope and freedom after enduring hardship and adversity. The opening lines suggest a sense of liberation, with the singer feeling the wind in their hair and being free from despair. They have finally found a release from the emotional pain that has burdened them, and they can breathe again. The use of sensory imagery is powerful, as they feel the rain on their face and taste the blood, perhaps symbolic of their journey through struggle.
The second stanza reveals the depth of the singer's struggle, as they have been to the underworld and back – a place more than they could bear. The implication is that they have gone through a figurative journey to the depths of despair, only to emerge on the other side. The singer has been branded by their experience, but they have made it out, and they are free again. The visions they have seen will remain with them as a reminder of what they have overcome.
The final stanza highlights the importance of carrying on despite the past, the merging of the present and past in memories. The singer is cursed by the legacy of their struggle, but they are determined to press on. They will never go back to the "trails of terror" or the "halls of horror" that once held them captive. The endless underworld hidden below in the black will not ever capture them again. The song is a tribute to the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity and emerge stronger and victorious.
