A band displaced ten years out of its element. Parkour thrives on the rough-edged low-fi indie rock that came out of the 90s. Started by former This Radiant Boy Bassist, Marcello De Feo, the band's songs show strong ties to his musical upbringing. Elements of Jawbreaker, Pavement, Edsel, The Promise Ring, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Garrison should be noticeable.

One should note that, as the open-minded SeraphSilhouett pointed out, there is a bit of confusion in this biography. As she stated Parkour is "not different." Some clarification might be necessary. Where the bio reads "Dares to be different," it insinuates that the band might be pushing the envelope or sailing in uncharted waters. In truth, Parkour's music is merely more comparable to the college rock that came out in the mid-'90s than it is to today's rock.

I applied for unemployment and was rejected because he said I had quit.
This went through the dept which handled these things in my state capitol and they just took his word so, no unemployment.
I had witnesses etc, but it would have cost me to take him to court, and who knows how long it would take, or if I'd win.

Unless you're some big time employee in a big money field and you're truly sought after because you're remarkable in that field of work, no one gives a shit.
Everyone is expendable/replaceable.
If you're a straight, white male you have less of a chance of successfully suing anyone regarding employment.

The days of honesty, honor and decency are gone.
Today I'm in my mid 50s, my body is riddled with long term injuries from busting my ass to prove I was a valuable employee, always worked any and all OT, etc
I have nothing to show for any of it, and now it's extremely difficult for me to find work, because I can't do jobs I did all my life.
And no one cares.

I worked at a factory a couple years ago. I took some days off because I was going through a divorce and also a couple of doctors appointments. They told me those days would be covered if I brought in a note saying I was there. I had a job request of me a two-week notice because they shot down my raise several times despite hiring on new people with no experience into the same role that I was in despite me being the best of the best in the building. So I told them I quit. They said you can't possibly quit your too important. This department will collapse without a few weeks notice. I just shot back at them. I guess I'm not that important because you wouldn't give me the extra $2 an hour that you're hiring new people on for and I handed them a resignation letter effective immediately. I left that place and found a better paying job no more than a week later and they called me nearly 16 times trying to get me to come back. First threatening me with legal action for not giving a two-week notice which is not a thing then begging by the end of it and even offering the bonus to come back. I told them that I'd only come back for $2 higher than where I got hired. Which was about $23 an hour at the time. They laughed at my demands And I said if you're willing to accept it you know where I'm at and I hung up on them. I never got a call from them again and they shut down soon after due to the sheer amount of stuff that I ran there and the inexperienced people that they hired not being able to do even a quarter of what I did despite having six of them get hired on.

I only give a two week notice to employers who are respectful and understand that business isn't personal. I've walked out on jobs on the spot, but I tell them, "I quit". One thing I noticed anytime I see people put in their two weeks, the employers/managers always get extremely petty and either "let them go" immediately, not schedule you at all, or work you like a dog. I'd say only put in your two weeks if you are working in higher up positions or you really respect/like your employer and job and you want that reference. Don't give the two week notice unless you don't actually need that part of the paycheck that will still be coming to you. There are many employers that will let you go on the spot as soon as you give that two week notice. Labor unions have by and large been busted out of existence or are hollow shells of their former glory and all the protections they offered are gone. When unions were a much more common thing the contracts would have two week notices that went both ways. Getting fired? Well, the company has to give you notice so you can go find a job, dispute it with the union etc and you had to give the employer two weeks to find a replacement if you were quitting. Many jobs do, particularly most salaried positions or union jobs. It's usually just lower wage hourly positions that can just cut you loose on the spot. And even if they don't, it's still better than just ghosting to quit. When you're fired, you get unemployment. When you quit and just ghost, you don't get shit, and likely ruin the ability to get rehired.

I'm not sure about how much of a heads-up they gave before laying people off . A mate I had who worked somewhere else also got a warning about layoffs coming though that backfired on them he found something else and he was one of the ones they were going to keep. I'm 29 years old never handed on a two week notice. Matter of fact I've had the same job in multiple locations,have been blacklisted, walked out never showed up again and still work at that same company . And somehow still keep getting raises . All this within 3 years. There is always a job out there where I can put up with less bs and higher wages . And it's time employers understood that.

I guess I’ve been super lucky. Whenever I’ve had to leave a job, it was for practical reasons and not because I hated the place or was being mistreated. I gave two week notices because I wanted time to hire and fully train a replacement. I’m sure I would feel differently if I had a crazy boss or bad hours or something…

Some bosses actually care about their employees and treat them well because it's their company and they make the rules. The con is rehirability & job reference. You're not typically rehirable if you don't give a 2 weeks notice & the next job you apply for has the ability to call your previous employer & ask specific questions & one of them is if you're rehirable, which can affect their decision to hire you. They're not allowed to inquire why, by law.

That's why you use loopholes when you can. Put in your two weeks & do the bare minimum until you leave or, my personal fav (if you have this option) is get a two week vacation approved, if you have the vacation hours, & put in your two weeks the day before you leave for vacation.

I like to think I treat my people really well. The biggest reasons I want the two months notice that is in the employment contract is so that coworkers aren't put under unexpected increased strain and so that we all get a chance to say goodbye and do the party. I legit cry when most folks leave.

I only gave one two week notice in my life. I worked at a nursing home for 3 or so years, I enjoyed it, unfortunately I am in the military and was being deployed at the end of the year. I also had to smush a semester in so I could graduate before the shipping. So I let my ppl know, I even stayed an extra few weeks while they searched for a replacement so my elders didn’t have a break in routine/assistance and not everything was heaped onto my supervisor. The ONLY reason why I let them know is because I loved my elderlies and I respected my supervisor. Them other ones can shove off 🤷🏾‍♀️
But yea if your current job doesn’t respect you or you ain’t feeling that job, go ahead get your other job lined up and once you get the green light that you got the job, leave off without telling a soul!

I got "let go" from a job they were cutting folks and I had stepped on the manager's toes once too often (people listened to me more than her) so I was told I was let go, but also told I could finish my two weeks if I wanted....next day I was late, I did not want to be there and I just went "Look...have my badge, I am done here. I put in my 2 week notice out of respect for my coworkers. I remember the days where I worked unplanned double shifts simply because my relief never showed... not fun and I'd hate to put co-workers in a similar predicament. I remember putting in a few days notice due to something unexpected, I felt bad watching my coworkers huddled around the schedule trying to figure out how to make things work. That being said I definitely worked somewhere where I didn't make it through training because upper management was that awful, walked out and didn't return. At least then I was just an extra person on the schedule so it didn't affect my coworkers.

My comment was only meant to point out the differences in the hypothetical/comparison. Quitting because of untenable conditions is equitable to getting fired (deserves the respect of a call to inform, but not much more.) Leaving because a better opportunity comes up is similar to laying off because the company has to downsize/cant afford (deserves earliest notice possible and empathy from both sides.)

I’ve always been told to do two weeks IF you want to stay on good terms and use them as reference for your resume. If you know you aren’t going to get good reference from them, or no vacation hours paid back, anything like that, then there’s really no point to putting yourself through the two weeks.
