Passage 4 Lyrics

A guillotine for what it's been, no looking back for another deal.
A brain without a meaning, a brain without a care,
A brain without a memory, a brain without what should be there.
Somehow, let's take it away.
Somehow, we got to end this right away.
Somehow, let's take it away.
Somehow.
Walking 'round like creatures, walking 'round like scum,
Outfit like a memory that no one likes to have in mind.
Sidewalk of desire, streets without no end.
An alley which leads to agony, which shows up like your best friend.
That's like it's gonna end for an eye which is looking away,
That's what it has to be for the lie which starts today.
That's like it's gonna end for an eye which
Is looking away, the only word I see: betray.
Somehow, it's gonna end.
In this song, Passage 4 presents a bleak picture of the world, one where minutes of warning are not enough to stop inevitable doom, where brain functions are impaired and memories are absent. The lyrics suggest that the characters in the song are trapped in a cycle of bad decisions, doomed to repeat past mistakes. There is a sense of urgency in the song, as if time is running out and the only solution is to take action.
The second half of the song shifts to a more grotesque imagery, as the characters are described as walking around like creatures and scum, with an outfit that no one wants to remember. The streets are described as leading to agony and betrayal, with the only word visible being 'betray'. The song's lyrics seem to be hinting at a lack of control over one's destiny, a feeling of being trapped in a world where one's decisions are limited and likelihood of failure is high.
The emotion conveyed in this song is one of desperation and a call to action, with the repeated emphasis on 'Somehow' suggesting that action needs to be taken, even if it is not clear what form that action should take. The overall tone of the song is pessimistic, suggesting that the world is a cruel and unfair place that is hard to navigate.
