Jesus Son of God
Passion Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You came down, from heaven's throne
This earth You formed, was not your home
A love like this, the world had never known
A crown of thorns, to mock your name
Forgiveness fell upon Your face
A love like this, the world had never known

On the altar of our praise
Let there be no higher name
Jesus Son of God
You laid down your perfect life
You are the sacrifice
Jesus son of God
You are Jesus son of God

You took our sin
You bore our shame
You rose to life
You defeated the grave
And a love like this, the world has never known

'Cause you took our sin
You bore our shame
You rose to life
You defeated the grave
A love like this, the world has never known

On the altar of our praise
Let there be no higher name
Jesus son of God
You laid down your perfect life
You are the sacrifice
Jesus son of God
You are Jesus son of God

Be lifted higher
Than all you've overcome
Your name be louder
Than any other song
There is no power
That can come against your love
The cross was enough
The cross was enough

The cross was enough
The cross was enough

On the altar of our praise
Let there be no higher name
Jesus son of God
You laid down your perfect life
You are the sacrifice
Jesus son of God
You are Jesus son of God

On the altar of our praise
Let there be no higher name
Jesus son of God
You laid down your perfect life
You are the sacrifice
Jesus son of God
You are Jesus son of God

Be lifted higher
Than all you've overcome
Your name be louder
Than any other song
There is no power
That can come against your love
The cross was enough
The cross was enough

Be lifted higher
Than all you've overcome
Your name be louder
Than any other song
There is no power
That can come against your love
The cross was enough
The cross was enough

Be lifted higher
Than all you've overcome
Your name be louder
Than any other song
There is no power
That can come against your love
The cross was enough
The cross was enough

The cross was enough
The cross was enough

The cross was enough
The cross was enough

Overall Meaning

Passion's song "Jesus Son of God" is a moving ode to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The song opens with a recognition of Christ's sacrifice - he gave up his place in heaven to come to earth and be crucified. The second verse focuses on the key sacrifice of Christ, the crucifixion, noting how he bore our sins and shame, and subsequently defeated death by rising again. As the song concludes, it raises up Christ as an inspiration, emphasizing that there is "no power" that can come against his love, and acknowledging the transformative impact of his sacrifice.

[5:117] And when Allah will say, “O Jesus, son of Mary, didst thou say to men, ‘Take me and
my mother for two gods beside Allah?’”, he will answer, “Holy art Thou. I could
never say that to which I had no right. If I had said it, Thou wouldst have
surely known it. Thou knowest what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Thy
mind. It is only Thou Who art the Knower of hidden things.

Believing in the Oneness of Allâh is a basic fundamental pillar  in Islam. This belief establishes the relationship between human beings and their Rubb (Lord).
As Muslims we firmly believe that Allâh is our Creator, Sustainer and the true God; only He has the right to be worshipped. There is no partner with Him. He has the free hand in the disposal of all affairs.
Every Divinely revealed message is unanimous in its fundamental religious creed such as: Belief in Allâh as Singular and Alone and without any associate; Belief that He was neither born nor does He give birth .

Belief in Angels and the Day of Judgement in the Hereafter; Belief in Divine predesti-nation, and the good and bad of it; Belief in the Messengers and Prophets.

There is nothing in recorded history, since the time of Adam (peace be upon him)  up through the last of the Prophets, Muhammad (peace be upon him), indicating that any known Divine revelation differs in these beliefs.
Indeed, the differences found among them are connected to the forms of worship and their various conditions or appearrance. Also, those things that were forbidden or permitted differed for various reasons as legislated by Allâh to the Prophets, each of whom was ordered to explain and clarify the law to the respective peoples.

Therefore, [original] Christianity can be termed as a Divine mes-sage that calls for Belief in Allâh as Singular and without associ-ate, and that He is neither born nor does He have offspring. It confirms that Allâh indeed sends Messengers and Prophets from among men whom He has chosen from the best of people. This, in order that no one can have any argument before Allâh after having thus been sent a Messenger.

The question that one is obliged to ask is: Has Christianity re-mained in the state in which it was originally revealed by Allâh to His servant and Messenger Jesus (‘Iesa ) ? (peace be upon him)
In order to answer this question, it is necessary to bring out for our mutual benefit, the reality of Christianity today and compare it with what has been transmitted in both the Torah and the Gos-pels attributed to Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them) respectively.

‘The belief of the Christians that the Messiah is the Son of God (Allâh).’ :

he (Matthew) states: “The Book of the Line-age of Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.” In this lineage is an evidence of his being a flesh and blood mortal in contradiction to the claim of his being divine.      ‘The belief of the Christians that the Messiah is the Son of God (Allâh).’ :
This is a belief that is not supported by any statement of the Mes-siah (peace be upon him). In fact, we find the Torah and the Gospels filled with evidence, to the contrary, that nullifies this
belief. We find in the Gospel of John 19:6-8: “When the chief priests and the offi-cers saw him, they cried out, ‘Crucify him, crucify him!’ Pilate said to them, ‘Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no crime in him.’ The Jews answered him, ‘We have a law, and by that law he ought to die, because he has made himself the Son of God.’”5

Matthew
begins his Gospel C: 1:1, with what is said to be Jesus’s family lineage where he (Matthew) states: “The Book of the Line-age of Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.” In this lineage is an evidence of his being a flesh and blood mortal in contradiction to the claim of his being divine. Jesus was sent as a messenger. It does not befit God to take a son. He was not a God, nor son son of God. This is the greatest injustice to attribute such thing to your Lord. The Torah and Bible were words of God but Jews and Christians changed them for their benefits and twisted them for their benefits. Quran is also word of God so definitely there will be some similarity as it is coming from God so some similarity should be there ; however the contradiction is where Bible and Torah were changed. Apart from that Islam brought some new instructions through Quran and warned people not to change the book Allah himself promised that Quran will be proteced so it is a living miracle that Quran has never changed a single word.
The following verse from Quran is a serious warning to those who believe Jesus was son or God himself.
The Qur’an clarifies that Jesus never called for people to worship him. God, the Exalted, says:
And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people,
'Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not
for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know
what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower
of the unseen.I said not to them except what You commanded me - to worship Allah, my Lord and
your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up,
You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness. If You should punish
them - indeed they are Your servants; but if You forgive them - indeed it is You who is the Exalted
in Might, the Wise. (Qur’an 5:116-8)
