Proven by the fact that, in 1972/1973 Curtis Mayfield chose her to lay down 'Make Me Believe In You' and the much underrated 'Ain't No Love Lost'. She was only sixteen-years-old at the time. Unfortunately, little more is known about this terrific performer.

HELP
ANYONE CAN WRITE DOWN THE wright LYRICS?
English isn't my 1rst language so...
Ain't no man to be found
???
Just remember i'm hip to the lip
Before you ask any questions
I ain't no jab(?) talking' girl
So move out of you heartbreaking(??) world
You gonna be down right in shame
If I find that you're playin' any game
Make me believe in you
Show me your love can be true
Do anything you want me to do
Just make me believe in you
Come on like you feel ??
You know it leaves me with no inspiration
Another man playin' on me
May have a hard time succeedin', you see
You don't seem quite like the others
Which brings me respect for you brother
But it would be awful awful sad
To give love and you treat me so bad
Make me believe in you
Show me your love can be true
Do anythin' you want me to do
Make me believe, make me believe in you
aaaah
And there's no man to be found
I know ???
So just remember i'm hip to the lip
Before you ask any questions
Now I ain't no ?? talking' girl
So move out from your heartbreaking world
You're gonna be down right in shame
If I find that you're playin' any game
Make me believe in you
Show me your love can be true
Do anythin' you want me to do
Just make me believe
Make me believe, make me believe

Yes. One of the best books I've ever read.
@boyshelby282
Yes. Misspelled as Patty Joe.
@dinodorkstwo
I read this back in the late 80s when I came out. I think I found a copy in the Glad Day in Toronto. I recently found an audio copy on iTunes, and I'm listening to it while I cycle around Ottawa. The same old melancholy is flooding me. This time I can track down the music. This is the best song mentioned in the book so far. The audio book is well worth the listen BTW.
@hansuitBest

@stuzzicato
@@boyshelby282it’s “Patti Jo” in the version I’m reading right now (2019 published by Vintage)
@NyctalopeDiurne
Patti Jo + Curtis Mayfield = two sides of the same wicked coin.
