When You Walk In The Room
Paul Carrack Lyrics

I can feel a glowing sensation taking place
I can hear the guitars playin' lovely tunes
Every time that you walk in the room
I close my eyes for a second and pretend it's me you want
Meanwhile I try to act so nonchalant
I feel a summer's night with a magic moon
Baby it's a dream come true
Standin' right along side of you
Wish I could show you how much I care
But I only have the nerve to stare
I can feel a something pounding in my brain
Just any time that someone speaks your name
Trumpets sound I hear thunder boom
Every time that you walk in the room
Paul Carrack's song When You Walk In The Room is a beautiful love song that uses metaphorical language and vivid imagery to express the emotions of the singer. The opening lines, "I can feel a new expression on my face, I can feel a glowing sensation taking place" suggest that the singer's feelings are changing as soon as his beloved walks into the room. His face shows his happiness as a new expression comes on it and he feels a beautiful sensation inside him.
The singer goes on to explain how he feels when she walks in; the guitars start playing lovely tunes in his head as he closes his eyes and pretends that she wants him. He wishes he could be nonchalant, but this love is too strong for him to cover up. Carrack then talks about how he feels a summer's night with a magic moon every time she walks in the room. He becomes almost poetic in his imagery, as if his love for her has opened up new creative possibilities.
The lyrics then show the singer's realization that he is living his dream by standing right beside her. He wishes he could show her how much he cares, but he only has the nerve to stare. The song concludes with lines that further illustrate his feelings of being enraptured by his beloved. The mere mention of her name makes his heart race and he feels like a thunderstorm is erupting around him.

Paul Carrack is quite possibly the single most under appreciated talent in Rock and Roll history. And while I truly love this song in all its many versions, ( Status Quo, Pam Tillis, The Searchers, Karla Bonoff, Jackie DeShannon (she wrote it), Agnetha Falkskog, etc.), Mr. Carrack's version is my favorite. Thank you so much for posting this wonderful music...

I think so too
@zapkvr
Rubbish. He is NOT under appreciated. Christ
@mmccutchmc45
@@zapkvr I disagree with your emphatic response. If you say the name "Paul Carrack" in America, the majority of people here would have no idea who he is. I realize it is not the same in England, but here, people don't know Paul Carrack.

Maybe you know this, but it was written and recorded by the greatest female singer-songwriter-musician ever in my opinion, Jackie DeShannon, back in 1963, and it’s great! Paul does an absolutely fantastic job on this too, love it.
