Merrill Nisker (born 1966 in Toronto), better known as Peaches, is an electroclash artist whose songs are mainly focused on sexuality. She lives and works in Berlin, Germany. She plays almost all the instruments for her songs, programs her own electronic beats, and produces her records.
Peaches' music is preoccupied with gender identity. Her lyrics and live shows self-consciously blur the distinction between male and female: she appears on the cover of her second album Fatherfucker with a full beard; when asked if she had chosen the title for shock value, she commented:
"Why do we call our mothers motherfuckers? Why do we stub our toe and say "Aww motherfucker!"? What is motherfucker? ...We use it in our everyday language and it's such an insanely intense word. I'm not one to shy away from these obscene terms that we actually have in our mainstream. Motherfucker is a very mainstream word. But if we're going to use motherfucker, why don't we use fatherfucker? I'm just trying to be even."
She refutes accusations of 'penis envy', preferring the term 'hermaphrodite envy', since "there is so much male and female in us all". Nevertheless, she does not shy away from identifying herself as a sexual being, although she rejects the sanitised portrayal of women in popular music.
Although she does not hold a teaching degree, she taught at private schools before her career in music.
Fancypants Hoodlum released in 1995 was released under her birth name Merrill Nisker
Members of her band are known as The Herms - JD Samson, Radio Sloan, Samantha Maloney.
Her songs have been featured in movies such as Mean Girls, My Little Eye, Lost in Translation, Waiting, and Jackass: Number Two. Her music has also been featured on Showtime's The L Word television series. Peaches performed guest vocals on P!nk's album Try This, on the song "Oh My God". Her lyrics are discussed as part of the Queer Studies course curriculum at the University Of Toronto, and she has been invited to lecture at the Contemporary Music Academy in Berlin. Her most notorious song, "Fuck The Pain Away", is also the name of an Electro night in Brighton.

Technically, biologically, physically, psychologically, uhh
Uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh
Uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh
Take your sabbatical, from your radical, fanatical battle
Sit on your saddle, and rattle, rattle, rattle
Sit on your saddle, and rattle, rattle, rattle
I like to lick it and suck it like you do
I like to hold it and squeeze like you do
I like to seize it and slab it like you do
I like to tease it and tap it like you do
So back it up baby, back it up, back it up
Back it up baby, back it up, back it up
You know what I'm talking about right?
There can only be one thing, you know?
Uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh
Mine's fake, inanimate, but feels great, just stimulate, your prostate
Relax, it's fat, let me pat your crack, and make it all (?)
So back it up baby, back it up, back it up
Back it up baby, back it up, back it up
Uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh
Uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh, uhh

The lyrics of Peaches's song "Back it Up" are a play on words that can be interpreted in various ways. The first verse starts with a series of adjectives, describing the various ways in which something (or someone) can be approached. The following verses suggest sexual references, as they describe the actions the singer likes to do to a partner. The chorus repeats the phrase "back it up" and is likely meant to be interpreted as a sexual reference, encouraging a partner to move in a certain way. The bridge of the song includes the repeated phrase "sweet buns let me be your gun," which can be interpreted to suggest control or domination in a sexual encounter.
The song is likely meant to be provocative, and its sexually charged lyrics are a hallmark of Peaches's music. However, the song also includes a reference to male prostate stimulation, which is a less common topic in popular music. The repeated phrase "Don't you know it's supposed to feel better for boys?" can be seen as a nod to this topic, which is not often discussed openly.
Overall, the lyrics of "Back it Up" are open to interpretation and likely meant to be provocative. The sexual references and innuendo throughout the song are a hallmark of Peaches's music, and the inclusion of a reference to male prostate stimulation is a nod to a less commonly discussed topic in popular music.
