In 2005 they released their debut album, Hold Your Colour. Critically, the album was well-received in both the United Kingdom and Australia. In addition, it was one of the biggest selling Drum and Bass releases of all time. Pendulum have also collaborated with Freestylers, releasing the single "Fasten Your Seatbelt". MC $pyda and DJ Tenor Fly also feature as vocalists on "Tarantula".
Pendulum's sound is typically heavy beats accompanied by low, buzzing bass lines, overlaid with synthesized leads. As of their second album, In Silico, further experiments with sound are evident with many more elements from rock and typical electronic music being incorporated into their music. "In Silico" is Pendulum's first album for Warner Bros. Records via the bands Ear Storm imprint.
Their track "Vault" was played by almost every DJ and was declared by annual Knowledge Drum’n’bass Awards as The Best Track of the Year. They have also created many remixes, including a remix of Voodoo People by The Prodigy.
The band's third album "Immersion" was released on 24th May 2010, entering the UK album charts at #1 at the end of that week.
In 2011, members Swire and McGrillen started their side project, Knife Party, as a way to create different kinds of electronic music. It has since become their primary focus, however they have not ruled out the possibility of new Pendulum material in the future.

Pendulum Lyrics

This is a new time with a different kind they are the future
The only one!
This is the final call for the setting sun when they get closer.
And with a fall from grace thy will be done the show is over.
It's a new dawn!
I'll clear your bloodshot mind.
They only wanted your love on demand.
This is a better way!
We are standing by no time to hide no meeting half way.
You were sucking life through the needles eye this is a new day.
They have won!
We will surrender now or be outdone left in the open.
It's the cooling of horizon they are the future.
The future!
When all your fears combined the manifest was refined
And I know you really tried to understand.
This is a new way!
The opening lines of Pendulum's song 'Granite' immediately convey the sense of being watched and under surveillance. The singer warns that even if one tries to hide or fit in, the powers that be will find them. In contrast to the past, the song suggests we are now living in a time that is fundamentally different from what came before, and it is "the future" that is in charge - a notion that seems to bring with it both excitement and trepidation.
The chorus makes reference to a "setting sun" and a "new dawn," indicating a sense of transition and change occurring on a grand scale. The entity in control seems to hold all the cards, and those who don't fall in line may be punished with a fall from grace. The singer suggests that those who wish to survive in such an environment must leave behind the old ways of thinking, let go of unhealthy emotions, and embrace a "better way."
The second verse warns that resistance is futile, and that trying to survive "left in the open" would be pointless. The forces in charge are unstoppable, and it is in everyone's best interest to "surrender now or be outdone." The song seems to reflect on the idea of societal control, and the ways in which we may be conditioned to accept the status quo. In a world where power and resources are concentrated in the hands of a few, it can be difficult to imagine a true "new way."
